Globalization poses new challenges, while also providing development opportunities for strong and dynamic enterprises and new sectors which shape the world markets and economy and contribute to a more global approach to business activities. The business activities undertaken in each country depend on a number of factors, and these factors are often similar due to globalization, though their impacts appear to vary. In addition, changes in economies progress at different speeds, thus this article aims to determine how the impact of change in the global economy influences transformations in ownership in container shipping. The organization and operation of global container shipping is shaped by numerous external factors, i.e. economic, geographical, and political factors. The impact of these factors varies depending on the specific aspect of the container shipping industry being discussed. This paper was motivated by the need to determine the container fleet size and ownership structure in container shipping, and whether these are changing as the industry evolves. The stated aim of this research requires the use of statistical methods and a literature review to allow for a comparative study of the size and ownership relations in container shipping.

Zgodnie z przyjętą rządową strategią działalności górnictwa węgla kamiennego, to właśnie procesy grupowania powiązanych kapitałowo przedsiębiorstw stanowią jeden z podstawowych instrumentów determinujących powodzenie realizacji założonych celów strategicznych. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane aspekty koncepcji koncentracji kapitałowej na tle procesów restrukturyzacji przedsiębiorstw górniczych. Zaprezentowano główne przyczyny i kierunki działań restrukturyzacyjnych realizowane zgodnie z przyjętą strategią rządową, a także wybrane podstawy teoretyczne dotyczące problematyki funkcjonowania grup kapitałowych.

In line with the accepted government's strategy of coal mining activity, it is the processes of grouping of capital linked businesses that constitute one of the basic instruments that determine the success in realization of the assumed strategic goals. The paper presents some aspects of the concept of capital concentration as against the restructuring processes of coal mining companies. The main causes and trends of restructuring carried out in accordance with the adopted government strategy were presented as well as selected theoretical basis on the functioning of capital groups.

Globalizacja jest obecnie charakterystycznym i powszechnym zjawiskiem występującym we współczesnych gospodarkach. W branży motoryzacyjnej wyraża się przede wszystkim procesem rozpraszania i delokalizacji produkcji w skali świata oraz koncentracją kapitałową zarówno producentów samochodów, jak i części oraz podzespołów. W ostatnich latach operacje konsolidacji kapitałowej stały się integralnym elementem długoterminowej strategii działalności wielu koncernów motoryzacyjnych, które regularnie odwołują się do fuzji i przejęć jako sposobu na wzrost przedsiębiorstwa. Bardzo popularne stały się także alianse strategiczne. Początkowo opierały się na zwykłych umowach o współpracy, a obecnie coraz częściej poparte są wymiana kapitałową. Wszystkie te procesy mają zapewnić koncernom uzyskanie lepszej pozycji konkurencyjnej w walce o klienta, a przez to zwiększyć generowane zyski.

In automotive industry globalization trends arę seen as processes of delocation and dispersing of production activities on a global scalę and capital concentration of car manufacturers as well as their suppliers. They use mergers and acquisitions as a way of corapany growth. Apart from mergers and acąuisitions startegic alliances have become very popular as well and their number is growing fast. Ali those operations arę supposed to ensure better competitive position on the market and thus increase profits.
