Purpose: The subject of interest of this article is reengineering and restructuring. The purpose of the article is to answer the question: is remedial restructuring carried out using reengineering methods more efficient, i.e. is a greater percentage of the assumed restructuring goals achieved in a given unit of time than in a project carried out without using this method? Design/methodology/approach: The process of restructuring management described in the article is supported by a case study of a company dealing with production of pumps. The case study shows how effective the reengineering method is for managing corrective change. The restructuring project described in the article was aimed at eliminating unproductive processes in the company, and then leading to the development of the company by conducting organizational changes and radical rebuilding of the company's business processes. Findings: Conclusions from the case study analysis provide clear evidence that remedial restructuring using reengineering is much more efficient than in a traditional project. Originality/value: The article supplements knowledge in the field of change management. The conclusions presented in it regarding the usefulness of the reengineering method when conducting remedial processes in enterprises can be used by change managers as an indication to successfully carry out restructuring implementations.

Business Process Management (BPM) is an accepted discipline and its importance in increasing automation inside industrial environment is today recognized by all players. The complexity of modern management process will lead to chaos without a well-designed and effective BPM. Today, several tools exist, both commercial and open-source, but the selection of the appropriate tool for each organization could be a hard work. Several BPM Suites were compared and BPM approach was applied to the case study of process management in a renewable energy power plant. Results both in process reduction and simplification and flow optimization obtained in the real case are discussed to state efficacy and efficiency of the adopted approach.

This article presents a broad perspective on a maritime car terminal’s role in finished vehicle logistics with an aim to elaborate the process when a terminal changes its role from an inbound intermodal node to an outbound intermodal platform. Through the analysis of the maritime car terminal in Koper that occupies the 9th position among top European ports in handling light vehicles, a comprehensive view of process re-engineering is provided. The research analyses specific inbound and outbound processes and real-time decisions that influence the terminal’s productivity and satisfies stakeholders’ business expectations. The proposed business process re-engineering (BPR) model for an outbound car terminal highlights the directions of future management decisions to position the terminal as an export oriented intermodal node. The article offers a theoretical and practical contribution to efficient FVL management.

In this paper a technique for decision support for selecting a physical configuration are presented. This technique is useful during the redesign of a proposed restructuring of production processes resulted in a BPR approach. Based on the use of simulation and from the traditional experimental designs. It involves assessing the ability of the said configuration to cope with external and internal changes it faced. Our evaluation process is essentially based on the criterion of flexibility, this perverse concept and the ability of the configuration to accommodate the possible future directions for the installation of one or more measures of progress. Our work is illustrated by a case study.

W artykule przedstawiono techniki wspomagania decyzji wyboru fizycznej konfiguracji. Przedstawiona technika jest przydatna w trakcie przebudowy planowanej restrukturyzacji procesów produkcyjnych co odzwierciedla podejście BPR, opierające się na korzystaniu z symulacji i tradycyjnych wzorów doświadczalnych. Technika polega ona ocenie zdolności tej konfiguracji do radzenia sobie z wewnętrznymi i zewnętrznymi zmianami. Proces oceny opiera się głównie na kryterium elastyczności, koncepcja ta jest przewrotna i daje możliwości konfiguracji w celu uwzględnienia możliwych przyszłych kierunków w zakresie instalacji jednego lub więcej środków postępu. Praca ilustruje studium przypadku.

The aim of this paper is to present the case study of business processes reengineering (BPR). Important part of the change was the logistic process. At the beginning, the literature review on process approach and BPR was presented. Next a BPR methodology was shown. The case study of the implemented BPR change consists of three parts. In the first part, the company’s standing before the change was characterised. Next, the methodology of the project, based on the BPR approach, was defined. In the third part, the results of the BPR change were depicted. The article ends up with general conclusions.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie studium przypadku reengineeringu procesów biznesowych (ang. Business Process Reengineering, BPR). Ważną częścią zmian był reengineering procesu logistycznego. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd literatury w zakresie podejścia procesowego i reengineeringu procesów biznesowych. Dokonano przeglądu metodyk BPR. Prezentowane studium przypadku składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej części scharakteryzowano stan przedsiębiorstwa przed zmianą. Następnie zdefiniowano metodykę zmiany bazując na podejściu BPR. W części trzeciej przedstawiono rezultaty zmiany. Artykuł wieńczą konkluzje.

The author tries to find an answer to the problem with optimisation method - Total Quality Management or Business Process Reengineering - is better suited for optimising the operations of virtual and fractal organisations. She concludes that since both solutions are oriented towards quality optimisation, they can be considered complementary. Quite frequently, they are integrated and make the major part of the process approach to management.

Przedstawiono koncepcję procesu z punktu widzenia reengineeringu. Wyszczególniono pięć typów klientów procesu. Omówiono na przykładzie procedurę wyboru przedmiotu przeprojektowania opartą na analizie ABC, dla której punktem wyjścia stała się analiza uwag i oczekiwań klientów należących do „grupy odniesienia". Zasygnalizowano również techniki szczegółowej charakterystyki wybranego procesu, które - same nie przynależąc do procedury wyboru procesu - stanowią jego naturalne następstwo w kolejnych fazach BPR.

The conception of business process from BPR's point of view has been presented in this paper. Five types of business process klients have been introduced. The procedure of BPR subject selection based on ABC method has been diseased on the basis of the middle production firm experience. The starting point for this procedure was an analysis of klient's comments and reservations. Some additional techniques of describing the chosen business process have been pointed out.

The present article concentrates on crucial problems of electronic business (EB) and informatics technology during the initial phase of the development of contacts with countries of the European Union. The must for speeding activities aiming at the reengineering of economical processes based on logistic ideas has been stressed. It seems especially important and urgent to restructure - in a radical way - processes of the floating capital with the use of financial logistics rules. Another important thing to stress is the necessity for integration of restructuring activities within a firm equipped with external structures like uniform informatics websites which make possible activities and communication by means of ICT technology (Information and Communication Technology).

In the current scientific paper the term "reengineering" has been defined and the place of information technology (IT) in total restructuring of enterprises and institutions, as based on a general outline of "reengineering", has been pointed out. One has also indicated business fields where adaptation of information technology is possible and described effects of the use of it in business activities. In the final part of the paper, in addition to the summary and some conclusions, future opportunities for IT usage in economic works and undertakings have been pointed out.

The paper presents dynamical modeling of systems using the quantitative method of a production logistic. Dynamical Programming is particularly efficient for designing and analysig of complex logistic problems. A special strategy (called "optimal strategy") basing on the optimisation rule is proposed. This strategy is illustrated by the example. Problems of modern logistic systems the dynamical Programming could be used for analysing, optimising and investigation of exploitation of logistic systems what is shown in this approach.
