As cities become larger and societies become more complicated, the corresponding transportation systems also become more complicated. Thus far, many important transportation models have been investigated and applied to societies. In this work, we analyze a bus transportation model that includes high randomness. By strengthening the viewpoint of the users, the bunching of buses is further explored and considered as “the dumpling bus state,” referring to cases when the next scheduled buses closely run behind a delayed bus for a while. It is described that waiting people are split into winners (people with shorter waiting times) and losers (people with longer waiting times). Waiting time is also analyzed using logistic regression to obtain the probability of people who continue to wait.

This study is aimed at improving the methods of carriage of passengers by urban transport to improve its reliability and efficiency. It can be achieved by forming back-up bus routes within the existing regular route network for servicing mass passenger-flows. This study theoretically substantiates the impact of back-up bus routes inthe current regular route network on the reliability and efficiency of the transport process. Mathematical models of reservation of regular route network and the assessment of the reliability of passenger transport using different reservation schemes are suggested. Methodological recommendations on the formation of passenger traffic on back-up bus routes and cost reduction on its maintenance, by managing the route speed depending on the loading of the city road network, have been developed. Technical and economic evaluation was conducted to the developed methodological toolkit.

Presupposition for realizing the demand for bus transport is the existence of its potential, which represents the population of that city, region, or state. Public passenger transport is considered to be an instrument of state social policy. The legislation defines it as transport performed to satisfaction the transport needs of persons, especially vulnerable groups, pupils, students, and pensioners. A significant problem in Slovakia and also in abroad is an aging population. The retired population has different transport habits like other groups of passengers (children, pupils and students, economically active persons), which is related to the change of transport requirements, as well as an adaptation the public transport offer. In recent years, the number of license holders of individual disabled persons has been increasing in Slovakia, or possibly individual person with severe disability with a guide. In this article, we focus on examining the issue of the rising trend of issued valid licenses of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility, and related new measures, to which transport undertakings are confronted and transport service subscribers. The aim is also to identify the motivation to own a disability person license or persons with reduced mobility with the ability to use it for the demand for public passenger transport.

Przekształcenia, jakie nastąpiły w transporcie autobusowym w Polsce po roku 1989, miały wpływ na większość aspektów dotyczących funkcjonowania tego rodzaju transportu w przestrzeni społeczno-gospodarczej kraju. Zmiany te nie ominęły również infrastruktury związanej z odprawą podróżnych, których liczba zauważalnie wzrasta w ostatnich latach. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie, na przykładzie siedmiu wybranych miast położonych w województwie dolnośląskim, przekształceń infrastruktury oraz jej stanu obecnego. Analiza ma charakter studium przypadków, które ukazują podobieństwa oraz różnice w tym obszarze, jakie wystąpiły i nadal mają miejsce w poszczególnych miejscowościach. Autor zwraca uwagę także na: wyposażenie głównych punktów obsługi podróżnych w elementy poprawiające ich funkcjonalność i komfort podróżnych, rozmieszczenie opisywanej infrastruktury w przestrzeni miejskiej oraz jej powiązania z innymi ważnymi, z punktu widzenia pasażerów, obiektami. Przeprowadzone badania potwierdzają tezę o silnych przekształceniach infrastruktury służącej odprawie autobusów w wybranych miastach dolnośląskich. Charakterystyczną cechą jest zróżnicowanie tych procesów w poszczególnych miejscowościach. Są one uzależnione od różnych lokalnych czynników. W wielu miejscowościach obserwowana jest podobna tendencja do funkcjonowania na ich obszarze kilku punktów, w których następuje odprawa podróżnych w transporcie autobusowym. Zauważalna jest także degradacja i przekształcenia własnościowe dawnych dworców autobusowych, działających w innych uwarunkowaniach społeczno-gospodarczych. Powyższe zjawiska są w dużej mierze następstwem liberalizacji oraz deregulacji, jaka nastąpiła w transporcie autobusowym w Polsce po 1989 roku.

The changes in bus transportation in Poland after 1989 have impacted most aspects associated with the functioning of this type of transportation in the socio-economic sphere of Poland. The changes have referred also to the infrastructure intended for check-in of passengers which number has been growing noticeably in recent and its current state, on the example of 7 selected cities of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The analysis is a case study presenting similarities and differences referring to this area that have occurred and still are typical in discussed cities. Author is focused also on: equipment of the main service points for travelers with elements improving their functionality and travelers’ comfort, location of this infrastructure within the city boundaries, as well as its connection with other objects important for passengers. Conducted studies confirm the thesis of strong changes of the infrastructure devoted for bus passengers’ check-in in selected cities of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. A distinctive feature is diversification of these processes in different cities. The processes are dependent on local factors. The similarities include the tendency, occurring in many cities and towns, that in the given area there are several bus stops operating. Also degradation and transformation of old bus terminals functioning in different socio-economic conditions – is observable. The abovementioned phenomena are generally consequences of the liberalisation and deregulation which has occurred in the bus transportation in Poland after 1989.

W hali będzińskiej zajezdni autobusowej jest bardzo cicho. Pojazdy lśnią świeżą farbą i sprawiają wrażenie, jakby zjechały z taśmy produkcyjnej. Wszędzie jest bardzo czysto i nie ma tu krzątających się mechaników. Bo nie jest to zwykła zajezdnia, ale otwarta właśnie Izba Tradycji Komunikacji Miejskiej Przedsiębiorstwa Komunikacji Miejskiej w Sosnowcu.

W artykule zawarto prezentację przemian w sektorze autobusowych usług transportowych poza obszarami miejskimi w latach 1990-2013 oraz przedstawiono ocenę wpływu licznych zmian ustawowych na funkcjonowanie tego sektora. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań ankietowych wśród menedżerów przedsiębiorstw PKS omówiono problemy wdrażania rozporządzenia UE nr 1370/2007 w regionalnej komunikacji autobusowej. W końcowej części artykułu przedstawiono propozycje rozwiązań niezbędnych do wprowadzenia w sektorze transportu autobusowego i wskazano na perspektywy tej branży.

The article includes the presentation of changes in the bus transport services outside urban areas in the years 1990-2013 and presents an assessment of the impact of the numerous changes in the law on the functioning of the sector. On the basis of surveys conducted among managers of the PKS enterprises (car transport companies) it discusses the issues of the implementation of the EU Regulation 1370/2007 on regional bus services. In its final part the paper presents the proposals of the solutions necessary to be implemented in the bus transport sector and indicates the prospects of the industry.

The article presents the analysis of the offer of Scania Poland in the area of tourist and intercity buses. There were characterized the technical solutions used in the buses and their exploitation parameters. There were also discussed the new bus engines meeting the requirements of Euro 6.

W 1993 r. powstała organizacja pracodawców zrzeszająca przedsiębiorstwa komunikacji samochodowej. Początkowo funkcjonowała ona pod nazwą Ogólnopolski Związek Pracodawców Transportu Samochodowego. W listopadzie 2013 r., uchwałą Nadzwyczajnego Zebrania Ogólnego Członków Związku, nazwa została zmieniona na Pracodawcy Transportu Publicznego. Jubileusz dwudziestolecia tej organizacji skłania do analizy działalności i oceny jej znaczenia dla rynku publicznych przewozów pasażerskich.

Artykuł dotyczy autobusów zasilanych skroplonym gazem ziemnym (LNG), wytwarzanych przez fabrykę Solbus Bus w Solcu Kujawskim. Fabryka ta, jako jedyna w Polsce, została upoważniona przez Ministerstwo Infrastruktury do zarejestrowania 31 autobusów zasilanych przez LNG. Obecnie dwa z tych autobusów są użytkowane przez MPK w Wałbrzychu. Artykuł opisuje cechy tych pojazdów i szczególnie zwraca uwagę na ich instalację paliwową. Również szeroko opisano mechanizmy bezpieczeństwa w autobusach zasilanych przez LNG.

The article concerns the LNG fueled buses which are manufactured at Solbus Bus Factory in Solec Kujawski. The factory as the only one in Poland has been authorized by the Ministry of Infrastructure to register 31 LNG fueled buses. At present two of those buses are in use by MPK in Walbrzych. The article points out distinctive features of the vehicles and their fuel system in particular. Author also widely describes safety mechanisms used in LNG fueled buses.
