W pracy krótko scharakteryzowano wybrane podstawowe rodzaje wymuszeń drgań kabli wywołanych działaniem dynamicznym wiatru. Opisano takie zjawiska aerodynamiczne jak wzbudzenie wirowe, wzbudzenie wiatrowo deszczowe, galopowanie i buffeting. Kable to konstrukcje, które charakteryzują się małym tłumieniem wewnętrznym, małą sztywnością i małą masą, wobec czego nie są zdolne do całkowitej dyssypacji energii wymuszenia, stąd mogą osiągać duże amplitudy drgań. Duże amplitudy drgań powodują nadmierne naprężenia, obniżając w ten sposób poziom bezpieczeństwa konstrukcji.

The paper briefly presents selected basic kinds of excitations of cable vibrations caused by dynamic effect of the wind. It describes the aerodynamic phenomena such as vortex excitation, wind-rain excitation, galloping and buffeting. Cables are structures which are characterized by low internal damping, low rigidity and low weight, so that they are not capable to dissipation of total excitation energy, hence they can reach a large amplitude vibrations. Large amplitude of vibrations cause excessive stress, thereby lowering the safety of the structure.

The paper concerns stochastic analysis of cable-stayed bridge response due to the dynamic action of gusty wind. Non-stationary wind model with time dependent periodic mean speed is presented for investigating the buffeting bridge response amplified in resonant regime. Equation of motion is formulated by substructure technique. Buffeting forces are derived under the assumption that their span-wise correlation is the same as that of incoming wind fluctuations. The bridge response is obtained neglecting structure nonlinearities, as a sum of component responses due to buffeting forces acting on scattered deck sections. Mean junction and variance of bridge response are obtained. Two approximate formulas of variance are derived by using two mathematical models of wind turbulence correlations. The outline of numerical application is presented.
