The paper presents the possibilities of increasing energy efficiency of sacral buildings. Churches in the Zawiercie pastoral district of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa have been used as examples of typical sacral buildings of low energy efficiency. Such structures need to be thermally insulated during their use. Certain possibilities of raising the energy efficiency of churches have been presented. The paper describes different systems: increasingof wall and roof insulation, installation of new windows, and modern heating systems. Installation of a new heating system has been considered the most effective and the easiest to be implemented one.

W pracy przedstawiono możliwości zwiększenia efektywności energetycznej budynków sakralnych. Jako przykład typowych budowli sakralnych o niskiej efektywności energetycznej zostały zaprezentowane kościoły znajdujące się w zawierciańskim okręgu duszpasterskim archidiecezji częstochowskiej. Takie obiekty należałoby poddać termoizolacji w trakcie ich użytkowania. Zostały przedstawione wybrane możliwości zwiększenia energooszczędności budynków kościołów. Przedstawiono różne: zwiększenie izolacyjności ścian i dachu, montaż nowych okien i nowoczesnych systemów grzewczych. Instalacja nowego systemu grzewczego została uznana za najbardziej efektywny, najtańszy i najłatwiejszy do realizacji sposób.

Tendencies in the development of modern sacral architecture on the example of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa

Trends in development of 1945-2015 sacral architecture in Poland are presented in the paper. The issue is analysed on the example of Czestochowa Archdiocese churches. The analyses are based on the authors’ own researches conducted between 2010-2015. Churches drafts, information about estimate year outlays and data from parish records were collected from each parish and considered. The author especially focuses on the buildings from the 70s,80s and 90s, which are not suited to the current needs of parishes. Visible trend to build very large sacral objects in the 70s/80s, due to uncertainty of getting further building permissions is described. Multifunctional buildings, containing catechetical classrooms erected as a result of restrictive government regulations on the construction of churches in the 80s and 90s are presented. The author emphasizes that in the XXI century, smaller and better adapted to the needs of the local community church buildings are created. These facilities are in addition more energy efficient and built with materials of better quality.
