With over two billion receivers operating worldwide, radio transmission is by far the most accessible medium. It has been a part of our lives since the 1920’s and has become one of the most trusted and friendly mass media. Today, its popularity is still strong, despite the outcome of many electronic media. In order to transform the radio into a viable medium of the 21st century, it will have to migrate from analogue to digital technology domain. It will have to adopt to new means and ways of delivering content, as well as new transport and distribution mechanisms, including terrestrial, satellite and cable communications. This paper present the concept of an adaptive multiplex resource allocation method in the DAB+ broadcast system. It provides simulation results of four multiplexes, with different configurations and programs, as well as the concept of a technological demonstrator, fully compatible with the DAB+ standard.

Wraz z rozwojem techniki bezprzewodowej pojawiają się rosnące wymagania użytkowników na coraz to nowe usługi oraz produkty. Dla inżynierów wiąże się to z koniecznością ciągłego doskonalenia technik transmisji i kodowania informacji, szczególnie w systemach radiodyfuzji cyfrowej. Obecnie najpopularniejszym medium jest radiofonia, która łączy ponad 2 miliardy ludzi na całym świecie. W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję adaptacyjnej metody zarządzania zasobami multipleksu w radiofonii cyfrowej DAB+. Omówiono wyniki badań symulacyjnych dla czterech multipleksów o odmiennej konfiguracji i zawartości programów. Przedstawiono koncepcję demonstratora technologicznego, w pełni kompatybilnego ze standardem DAB+.

Rola satelitów we współczesnej telekomunikacji znacznie się zmieniła w stosunku do roli, jaką odgrywały one w latach 70. i 80. ubiegłego wieku. Opisano systemy satelitarne z małymi terminalami, w tym systemy reporterskie. Zwrócono uwagę na stale rosnącą atrakcyjność satelitarnych systemów rozsiewczych i dostępowych. Przedstawiono satelitę Astra 1K - największego cywilnego satelitę telekomunikacyjnego i opisano system SkyBridge jako przykład satelitarnego systemu dostępowego. Opisano satelitarne systemy multimedialne ARCS (geostacjonarny) i Teledesic (niskoorbitowy).

Satellites play quite different role in telecommunication networks nowadays than they used to play in the 70h and 80th years of the previous century. VSAT and SNG systems were described in the paper. Increasingly important role of satellites in TV broadcasting and access systems were underlined. Astra 1K - the world's largest ever telecommunication satellite - was presented. SkyBridge system was described as an example of a broadband access system. Two satellite multimedia systems: ARCS (geostationary) and Teledesic (LEO) were presented.
