W artykule omówiono tradycyjny, długi, asymetryczny łuk japoński yumi oraz sposób jego wykorzystania na przestrzeni dziejów. Przedstawiono podstawowe informacje o konstrukcji i działaniu tej broni oraz jej specyficzne cechy, a także wskazano metody strzelania. Przybliżono historię wykorzystywania łuku przez Japończyków, z uwzględnieniem ważnej roli, jaką odgrywał on w sztuce wojennej samurajów w pierwszych wiekach ich supremacji na arenie politycznej kraju. Omówiono również zmiany w sztuce militarnej Japonii zapoczątkowane w połowie drugiego tysiąclecia naszej ery, wynikające ze zwiększenia liczebności armii oraz pojawienia się na japońskich polach bitew broni palnej. W artykule zwrócono uwagę także na obecność łuku yumi w sferze religijnej Japończyków oraz wykorzystanie go we współczesnej kulturze Japonii, od sztuk walki i rekonstrukcji historycznych po święta i festiwale matsuri.

The article is dedicated to the traditional asymmetric Japanese longbow - yumi - and how it was used throughout the centuries. The initial part of the text introduces key information on the construction and operation of the yumi, detailing the specific features of this weapon and its methods of shooting. Subsequently, the history of the Japanese bow is discussed, taking into consideration the important role the yumi played in the samurai warfare during the first centuries of their supremacy in the country's political arena, as well as significant changes in the Japanese military in the middle of the second millennium CE, namely growing size of the armies and the introduction of firearms. The last part of the article discusses yumi's presence in the Japanese religious sphere and the usage of the bow in contemporary Japanese culture, from martial arts and historical reenactments to matsuri festivals.

The subject of research of this paper are concepts and geometric constructions of curves applicable in the building construction industry of Teofil Żebrawski, published in the Słownik [8] edited in 1883. The specific purpose of this chapter is to verify the correctness of the construction, that is to prove their correctness and to indicate the applications that Żebrawski does not mention. The scope of the study includes discussion of the 15 drawings of the Żebrawski Słownik.

Przedmiotem analizy autora niniejszej pracy są pojęcia i konstrukcje geometryczne krzywych mających zastosowanie w budownictwie Teofila Żebrawskiego, zamieszczone w opublikowanym w roku 1883 Słowniku [8]. Szczegółowym celem niniejszego rozdziału jest sprawdzenie poprawności konstrukcji, czyli udowodnienie ich poprawności oraz wskazanie zastosowań, o których Żebrawski nie wspomina. Zakres opracowania obejmuje omówienie 15. rysunków Słownika Żebrawskiego.

W artykule przedstawiono jedno z wielu zastosowań konstrukcyjnego drewna klejonego warstwowo – lekkie konstrukcje w postaci łukowych zadaszeń kortów tenisowych pokrytych membraną PCV. Drewno to najbardziej naturalny materiał budowlany, w pełni odnawialny surowiec, pochłaniający niskie ilości energii przy produkcji elementów pochodnych oraz łatwo poddający się recyklingowi. Z drugiej strony sport i zdrowy tryb życia. Idealne połączenie. Nowoczesne sposoby produkcji i obróbki drewna klejonego pozwalają kształtować praktycznie nieograniczone formy architektoniczne, co umożliwia ich stosowanie we wszelkich obiektach sportowych.

The article presents one of many applications of structural glued laminated timber, that is light structures in the form of arched roofs of tennis courts covered with a PVC membrane. Wood is the most natural building material that is fully renewable, uses low amounts of energy when producing derivatives, as well as is easily recyclable. There’s also the issue of sport and a healthy lifestyle. Modern methods of producing and processing glued laminated timber make it possible to shape various architectural forms, which allows their use in all sports facilities.

Na przykładach strzemion kabłąkowych i dwujarzmowych przedstawiono powody przekraczania granicy plastyczności w kabłąkach i śrubach oraz omówiono skutki takiego stanu. Podano przykłady strzemion typu K, wytężenie kabląków strzemion typu KL, wpływ odkształceń kołnierzy jarzm na wytężenie śrub. Powodem wszystkich tych zagrożeń jest brak skutecznych zabezpieczeń konstrukcyjnych przed zginaniem śrub i kabłąków w trakcie zsuwu złącz.

On the example of bow shackles and double-plate shackles the reasons were presented of exceeding the plasticity limit in bows and bolts and the effects of such situations were discussed. The examples of K type shackles were given, efforts of bows of KL type shackles, impact of the shackle' flanges deformations and effort of the bolts. The reason of all of these hazards consists in the łąck of effective construction safeguards against bending of bolts and bows in the course of the joints slides.
