The paper considers problems related to healing of long bones with application of an apparatus for external fixation of the bone fragments and mechanical stimulation of the osteogenic processes taking place in the interstice within the region between the bone fragments, which exist due to the applied method of functional healing of bone fractures. The presented problem is related to a technological approach to the essential healing process and rehabilitation of the motor system of the patient with structural destabilization - fracture of the long bone of the lower limb, regarding the biological aspects of the phenomenon of osteogenesis as a source of inspiration, and not the main subject of the considerations.

Long bone fractures can be healed using external fixators - devices that stiffly fix fracture fragments using parallel to the bone, attached with pins frame. This method affords to take profits both from healing and diagnostics of fracture during osteogenesis. The treatment of long bone fractures by external fixators affords a unique opportunity to control the healing of the fracture by measuring the tension on the frame, that occurs under the load given to the bone and rely on the mechanical properties of the fracture. Elasticity modulus can be one of the best descrption methods of mechanical properties of the bone. It can also be used for more precise and direct description of changes of mechanical properties inside the fracture slot. The paper presents methods and results of the assessment of changes of mechanical properties during fracture healing in comparison with the process of calcification.

Złamania kości długich mogą być leczone z wykorzystaniem osteosyntezy zewnętrznej - urządzeń, które sztywno utrzymują odłamy kostne w odpowiedniej pozycji za pomocą przymocowanej do kości z wykorzystaniem wkrętów ramy. Metoda ta wykorzystana może być zarówno do leczenia jak i do diagnozowania procesu leczenia. Leczenie z wykorzystaniem stabilizacji zewnętrznej pozwala na kontrolę procesu zrostowego przez pomiar obciążeń przenoszonych przez ramę stabilizatora pojawiających się podczas zadawania obciążeń na kość i zależnych od właściwości mechanicznych szczeliny złamania. Moduł sprężystości może być jedną z najlepszych metod opisu własności mechanicznych kości. Może być również użyty do opisu zmian własności mechanicznych szczeliny złamania. Artykuł przedstawia metodę i rezultaty oceny zmian własności mechanicznych szczeliny złamania w porównaniu z procesem mineralizacji tkanki podczas leczenia złamania.
