This paper represents comparative analysis of artificial neural network (ANN) and AGPSO tuned PI controller based power quality improvement solar generation system. Now a day's Power quality is a major problem due to non-liner load based on power electronics. SAPF is solution to overcome such power quality issues in dynamic manner. With the use of both soft computing controllers based Shunt active power filter, it is tried to reduce harmonics (distortions), compensate reactive power, enhance power quality and power factor correction of supply voltage. System comprises 21-Level cascaded H-bridge inverter supplied from photovoltaic panel, series coupling inductor and self supported DC (capacitor) bus. Voltage harmonics of supplied voltage from PV is reduced by 21-level cascades H-bridge inverter in which switching signal is generated by carrier based in phase level shifted pulse width modulation technique. Incremental conductance (IC) MPPT technique is incorporated to maximize PV panel output. Phase locked loop based unit template generation and Levenberg Marquardt algorithm trained ANN and AGPSO tuned PI controller based DC bus voltage regulation is utilized for current quality improvement in SAPF. Comparative results show the effectiveness of ANN controller than A GPSO tuned PI controller. Suggested model is simulated in Matlab/Simulink 2016(b) for effectiveness.

This paper proposes a simplified finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy for a three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF), which is based on a vector operation technique (VOT). In the conventional FCS-MPC, the optimal switching state is selected based on the evaluation and minimization of a cost function for all possible voltage vectors of the voltage source inverter (eight different vectors). The proposed FCS-MPC performs like a conventional FCS-MPC where the selection and evaluation of the possible voltage vectors are reduced by half (four vectors). The reduction in the computational burden is evident. In this study, the modified version of the instantaneous power theory based on a high selectivity filter is used to extract reference current components which increase the selectivity and the dynamic performance of SAPF. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of the SAPF with the proposed control strategy under polluted grid conditions.

This paper presents a concept of a shunt active power filter, which is able to provide more precise mapping of its input current drawn from a power line in a reference signal, as compared to a typical filter solution. It can be achieved by means of an interconnection of two separate power electronics converters making, as a whole, a controlled current source, which mainly determines the quality of the shunt active filter operation. One of these power devices, the “auxiliary converter”, corrects the total output current, being a sum of output currents of both converters, toward the reference signal. The rated output power of the auxiliary converter is much lower than the output power of the main one, while its frequency response is extended. Thanks to both these properties and the operation of the auxiliary converter in a continuous mode, pulse modulation components in the filter input current are minimized. Benefits of the filter are paid for by a relatively small increase in the complexity and cost of the system. The proposed solution can be especially attractive for devices with higher output power, where, due to dynamic power loss in power switches, a pulse modulation carrier frequency must be lowered, leading to the limitation of the “frequency response” of the converter. The concept of such a system was called the “hybrid converter topology”. In the first part of the paper, the rules of operation of the active filter based on this topology are presented. Also, the results of comparative studies of filter simulation models based on both typical, i.e. single converter, and hybrid converter topologies, are discussed.
