Styren stanowi główny problem zakładów produkujących jachty oraz wytwarzających produkty w połączeniu z włóknem szklanym. Im większe zużycie substancji na bazie włókna szklanego, tym większe zagrożenie dla zdrowia pracowników zakładu, a tym samym większe zanieczyszczenie.

Styrene is one of the main problems faced by boat-building plants as well as the ones manufacturing products in connection with fiberglass. The more fiberglass-based substances are utilized, the greater hazard posed to employees' health, and more pollution emitted into the environment. The present work discusses issues related to the presence of styrene in workstands in the boat-building industry, indicates the lack of established permissible limits, negative effect on human health and its emission into the atmosphere. Comar Poland in Bystre, the boat yard discussed herein, only finishes the process of boat building and thus utilizes only relatively small amounts of substances containing styrene, therefore the emission of this compound is low.
