The development in the power engineering technology aiming al operation with ultra-supercritical parameters calls for progress in the turbine technology. The demanding conditions in which the turbine components operate result in an increased thermal load which has lo be dealt with. One of the possible ways of stress reduction is the optimisation of heavily loaded components, especially in stress concentration zones. The paper presents a shape optimisation of the rotor blade grooves which leads to maximum stress reduction.
