Cel badań i hipotezy/pytania badawcze: Celem artykułu jest próba oceny implikacji konfliktu zbrojnego na kondycję finansową przedsiębiorstwa KSG Agro S.A. w latach 2021-2023. Celem empirycznym jest określenie, na jakie obszary kondycji finansowej przedsiębiorstwa w największym stopniu miał wpływ konflikt zbrojny. Metody badawcze: Artykuł oparto na analizie literatury przedmiotu oraz analizie wskaźnikowej kondycji finansowej przedsiębiorstwa KSG Agro S.A. w latach 2021-2023. Źródło danych do przeprowadzonego badania stanowiły sprawozdania finansowe przedsiębiorstwa. Główne wyniki: Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań widoczne jest, iż nieprzewidywalne sytuacje w otoczeniu mogą znacząco wpłynąć na kondycję finansową i majątkową przedsiębiorstwa. Oddziaływanie tak silnych czynników, jak konflikty zbrojne, mogą diametralnie zmienić osiągane rezultaty działalności (na przykładzie spółki KSG Agro S.A. funkcjonującej na obszarach objętych działaniami militarnymi). W badanym przedsiębiorstwie szczególnie zauważalna jest zmiana wyniku finansowego. Podczas gdy przed wybuchem konfliktu przedsiębiorstwo generowało dodatni wynik finansowy, w okresie objętym działaniami wojennymi odnotowano stratę. Znaczącemu pogorszeniu uległy również wskaźniki rentowności, w tym zwłaszcza rentowność kapitału własnego (ROE). Dodatkowo zaobserwowano znaczące wydłużenie cyklu regulowania zobowiązań krótkoterminowych zobrazowane wzrostem wartości wskaźnika rotacji zobowiązań w dniach. Implikacje dla teorii i praktyki: Analiza niniejszej spółki nie tylko przyczynia się do rozwoju wiedzy teoretycznej, lecz przede wszystkim posiada praktyczne znaczenie. Umożliwia uzyskać pełniejszy obraz mechanizmów adaptacyjnych stosowanych przez przedsiębiorstwo w sytuacjach nadzwyczajnych, a także ma znaczenie dla przyszłych prognoz.

Research objectives and hypothesis/research questions: The aim of the article is to assess the implications of the armed conflict on the financial condition of the KSG Agro S.A. company in 2021-2023. The empirical aim is to determine which areas of the company’s financial condition were most affected by the armed conflict. Research methods: This article is based on an analysis of the subject literature and an indicator analysis of the financial condition of the KSG Agro S.A. company in 2021-2023. The source of data for the conducted study were the company’s financial statements. Main results: Based on the conducted research, it is clear that unpredictable situations in the environment can significantly affect the financial and property condition of the company. The change in the financial result is particularly noticeable in the examined company. While before the outbreak of the conflict, the company generated a positive financial result, a loss was recorded in the period covered by the military operations. Profitability indicators also deteriorated significantly, especially the return on equity (ROE). Additionally, a significant extension of the short-term liabilities settlement cycle was observed, illustrated by an increase in the value of the liabilities turnover ratio in days. Implications for theory and practice: The analysis of this company not only contributes to the development of theoretical knowledge, but above all has practical significance. It allows for a more complete picture of the adaptation mechanisms used by the company in extraordinary situations and is also important for future forecasts.

Human capital in creating technology entrepreneurship of organizations

Purpose: The purpose of the present paper is to identify and evaluate the role of human capital in creating technology entrepreneurship within organizations operating in entirely new circumstances. Design/methodology/approach: In this article the qualitative method was used. Case studies of three photonics enterprises were evaluated. They are the top firms in this part of the high- technology sector. The employees of these firms have core competences and higher education degrees. Many of them are former scientists. Findings: The Covid pandemic has had a certain impact on disrupting the operation of high- tech companies’ supply chains. On the other hand, however, the threat of an international armed conflict caused by the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine resulted in many competitors leaving Russia and Ukraine, which creates an opportunity for the studied companies to develop the "liberated market area” and, consequently, to expand into new markets. Originality/value: Unexpected events like the COVID-19 pandemic, conventional armed conflict may constitute a special opportunity in the context of developing technology entrepreneurship within an organization.
