Basic factors characterizing technological-processing properties of membrane bioreactors with a passive and active role of membrane are presented. A quantitative analysis of these factors enables the rational choice of a kind of membrane bioreactor for a given application.
A membrane bioreactor comprising two zones with the different enzyme forms was proposed. Enzyme immobilization on the membrane surface is achieved by adsorption and the thickness of enzyme layer can be varied during the increasing of biocata-lyst inactivation. Advantages of the enzyme mass division into two zones were presented.
