Artykuł stanowi analizę pojęcia biopolityki z uwzględnieniem jej uwarunkowań, systematyzacji oraz implikacji i znaczenia dla dziedziny nauk o bezpieczeństwie. Biopolityka jest dziedziną, która wciąż się zmienia. Można jednak uchwycić pewne mechanizmy jej funkcjonowania. Ocenie poddano stanowiska naturalistyczne, politystyczne oraz współczesne teorie odwołujące się do myśli Michela Foucaulta, Giorgio Agambena, Antoniego Negri oraz Michaela Hardta. Autor skupia się również na przeszłości tego pojęcia oraz przedstawieniu podmiotów i przedmiotów biopolityki.

The article is an analysis of the biopolitics in regards to the circumstances, systematization, the implications and significance for the field of security science. Author evaluated the position of naturalist, politicist and modern theories that refer to the thought of Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben, Antonii Negri and Michael Hardt. The author also focuses on presenting past concepts, subjects and object of biopolitics and try to define this term. This is difficult challenge because biopolitics is the result of the rapid development technology entering the biological spheres of human life (eg biotechnology, bioengineering). From the point of view of the security sciences, biopolitics, in each of the three positions identified by Thomas Lemke, is a very important subject matter of the study. It is one of the scientific disciplines in social sciences that deals primarily with the non-military threats. Biopolitics may interfere in the sphere of operation of state institutions, governmental and local governmen, entrepreneurs and social organizations. Research in the field of biophysical security determines the theoretical foundations and development of international, national and social security systems and should serve the biological protection of human life and the environment in which it operates.
