W referacie przedstawiono przegląd rozwiązań wykorzystywanych w bankach do weryfikacji tożsamości klientów. Ponadto zawarto opis metod biometrycznych aktualnie wykorzystywanych w placówkach bankowych wraz z odniesieniem do skuteczności i wygody korzystania z dostępnych rozwiązań. Zaproponowano rozszerzenie zakresu wykorzystania technologii biometrycznych, wskazując kierunek rozwoju systemów bezpieczeństwa dla poprawy dostępu do usług i zwiększenia bezpieczeństwa transakcji. Referat prezentuje założenia będące podstawą zainicjowania projektu IDENT, realizowanego w ramach Programu Badań Stosowanych NCBR, który ma na celu poprawę skuteczności weryfikacji klientów bankowych z użyciem technologii biometrycznych.

An overview of customers’ identity verification solutions used in banks is presented. A review of biometric methods currently seen in bank outlets with a reference to their effectiveness and convenience is provided. An extension of the current state of technology in the context of biometrics applications is proposed, indicating a direction of the development of authentication systems to improve the secure access to banking services. Assumptions forming the basis for initiating the project IDENT are included. The project is carried-out under the Applied Research Program NCBiR, aiming to improve the effectiveness of the verification of bank customers employing biometric technology.

Coraz częściej zaawansowane systemy bezpieczeństwa wymagają identyfikacji oraz silnego uwierzytelnienia osoby. W pracy zaprezentowano badania związane z funkcją porównywania odcisku palca w procesie uwierzytelnienia. Na przykładzie aplikacji realizującej biometryczną weryfikację tożsamości osoby, posługującej się elektroniczną kartą procesorową , przedstawiono teoretyczne i praktyczne podstawy tworzenia bezpiecznych systemów informatycznych stosujących trzyskładnikowe uwierzytelnienie z wykorzystaniem karty, kodu PIN oraz odcisku palca.

More and more often advanced IT security systems tend to rely on user identification and strong authentication mechanism. This article presents research on fingerprint matching in authentication process. With regard to smart card application which enables user’s identity verification through biometric method, this article presents theoretical and practical introduction to creating secure IT systems by applying three-factor authentication using smart card, PIN code and biometric verification based on fingerprints.

The paper presents the design and the rationale behind a simple verification protocol for autonomous verification modules, and the architecture enabling use of such modules. The architecture assumes strict separation of all personal metadata and the actual verification data. The paper also describes a prototype implementation of the protocol and its extension enabling the state of the module to be monitored from the main system. The proposed design solves the problem of using advanced verification methods, especially biometric ones, in systems where direct implementation is not possible due to hardware incompatibilities, insufficient resources or other limitations.
