The results of experimental studies of biofiltration process of volatile organic compound vapour from the stream of exhaust air in a column with natural packing are presented in the paper. Vapours of the methyl isobutyl ketone were removed from air stream. Biofiltration process was controlled during 30 days. The pressure drop and biofiltration efficiency were determined on the basis of the experiments.

Mathematical modelling results dealing with the concentration distribution of component A contaminating waste gases stream in a biofilter are presented. The effect of kinetic parameters, superficial gas velocity and biofilter diameter on concentration profiles was analysed.
