The beginning of this article describes the NEDC and WLTC test cycles and basic differences between them. The following presents, the test stand and test objects, which were bioethanol fuels E10, E40 and E85. At the end were presented and discussed results of tests of these fuels in the flex-fuel vehicle in NEDC and WLTC test cycles.

The article presents the issues related to the adaptation of the spark-ignition engine for feeding with bioethanol fuels. Significant properties were compared when powering the engine with SI gasoline and bioethanol, the necessary changes in the construction of the engine and its systems were presented.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia dotyczące przystosowania silnika z zapłonem iskrowym do zasilania paliwami bioetanolowymi. Porównano istotne właściwości przy zasilaniu silnika z ZI benzyną i bioetanolem, przedstawiono konieczne zmiany konstrukcyjne silnika i jego układów.

The use of bioethanol fuels is one of the most efficient methods of reduction of toxic emission and reduction of engine noxiousness to the environment at the same time. The ecological effects of the bioethanol fuel application fuelling spark ignition engines and self-ignition engines are presented in the paper. The paper presents original, not yet published, test results of the Scania DC9 E02 270 engine.

Zastosowanie paliw bioetanolowych stanowi jedną z najskuteczniejszych metod zmniejszenia uciążliwości silników spalinowych dla środowiska ze względu na emisję zanieczyszczeń. W pracy przedstawiono ekologiczne skutki zastosowania paliw bioetanolowych do zasilania silników o zapłonie iskrowym i zapłonie samoczynnym. Przedstawiono oryginalne, niepublikowane dotychczas wyniki badań silnika Scania DC9 EO2 270.
