Practical Examples of Determination of Frequency of Periodical Inspection of Machinery Safety Systems

The paper deals with the problem of choosing an appropriate inspection interval for monitoring of safety related control systems in machinery. According to international standards the safety related systems are categorized according to their Safety Integrity Levels or Performance Levels, depending on their reliability parameters. Extremely simple, approximate models have been proposed in order to provide practitioners without reliability training with useful tools for the determination of inspection policies. The method(s) based on the required availability of the system. The paper presents some practical examples of systems of categories B, 1 and 3, respectively. The frequencies of periodical inspection are calculated for: system monitoring closure of the door, behind which a dangerous element moves slowly, system of monitoring the access door on the automated production line and system, in which a light curtain is employed to monitor the access to the dangerous zone of an automatic assembly machine.

Omówiono problemy bezpiecznego użytkowania maszyn w aspekcie przepisów obowiązujących producentów i użytkowników maszyn w Zjednoczonej Europie. Szczegółowo zajęto się stroną prawną, trybem postępowania oraz obowiązkami krajowych producentów, wprowadzających maszyny na rynek krajów Unii Europejskiej. Odrębnie ujęto zagadnienia związane z wprowadzeniem przez dostawców nowych maszyn na polski rynek oraz z użytkowaniem maszyn posiadanych przez polskich pracodawców. Podano ważniejsze Polskie Normy, dotyczące maszyn do obróbki plastycznej i obróbki skrawaniem, stanowiące podstawę wystawienia 'Deklaracji zgodności'.

The problems of safe use of machines in the respect of the rules binding machine producers and users in the United Europe have been discussed. Special attention has been devoted to the legal questions mode of proceeding and the duties of domestic manufacturers introducing machines to the market of the European Union countries. A separate discussion of the problems concerning suppliers introducing new machines to the Polish market and the use of the machines in possession of Polish employers has also been included. Reference has been made to the most important Polish Norms concerning devices for plastic forming and machining, which Norms constitute the basis to issue a 'Declaration of Compliance'.
