Niniejsze opracowanie porusza problematykę zagrożenia porażeniem prądem elektrycznym strażaków podczas działań ratowniczo-gaśniczych prowadzonych na terenach leśnych.

Fire operations during wildfires are related to various hazards fire fighters face. One of them is electric shock risk. It is connected with high – tension transmission lines, kilometers of which were built in the forest. Although transmission lines are constantly maintained, many of them were build in 60s and 70s, what increases fault probability. Moreover, water is the cheapest and the most commonly used extinguishing agent, though, in some conditions, during fire operations, it may conduct electricity. Another danger is short – circuit, the result of e.g. insulator’s fault, causing electrical current ground gradient. Hence, firefighter walking next to the transmission tower is exposed to the phenomenon called step potential. The article proposes preventive measures in purpose to improve firefighters’ safety during wildfire operations.
