Treści niniejszego artykułu koncentrują się na przedstawieniu wyników badań dotyczących rozwoju środków napadu powietrznego (ŚNP) jako głównego determinanta zmian, w tym modernizacji systemu obrony powietrznej w Polsce. W tym zakresie autorzy podkreślają rolę ŚNP jako swoistego stymulatora rozwoju przeciwlotniczych środków walki. W artykule głównym obszarem rozważań naukowych są techniczne i operacyjne aspekty i kierunki rozwoju, w tym zwiększenia możliwości bojowych załogowych i bezzałogowych ŚNP i prognozy ich użycia na współczesnym i przyszłym polu walki przeciwko obiektom wojskowym i niemilitarnym. Szczególnie dużą wartość poznawczą w poniższym artykule mają treści charakteryzujące przyszłe zagrożenie powietrzne systemu OP państwa oraz trendy ich rozwoju w XXI wieku.

The contents of the article is focused on the presentation of the results of research on the development of Air Attack Means (AAM) perceived as the major determinant of changes, including the modernisation of the Air Defence System in Poland. In this respect, the authors underline the role of AAM as specific stimulus for the development of anti-aircraft combat measures. The main areas of research are technical and operational aspects and directions of development, including increase in capabilities of both manned and unmanned AAM and their prospective use on the modern and future battlefield against military and non-military facilities. The contents characterizing future air threat for the state Air Defence System as well as trends in their development in the 21st century are of particularly high cognitive value.

The aim of the following article is to explain the essence of threats created by ballistic missiles, which - as it is well known - are intensively modernized by the countries called „unstable” and to outline implications for democratic countries resulting from this situation. The Authors created a classification of ballistic missiles, with a special emphasis on the importance and combat capabilities of the so called theatre missiles. They briefly explained the evolution of those unusually dangerous means of air assault. Analyzing the modernization programs realized by the „rogue states”, whose principal goal is to increase the range of their operation, they took note of the existing technical (technological) problems, which question the credibility of the achieved results. Despite the negative evaluation of the ballistic programs based on the Russian missiles Scud-B, the Authors emphasized that the threat cannot be underestimated. In their opinion, efforts designed to reduce the threat should be intensified. The improvement of the anti-missile defense system, especially its ground elements comprising anti-aircraft missile sets, should be considered a priority.
