In railway applications wear prediction in the wheel-rail interface is a fundamental matter in order to study problems such as wheel lifespan and the evolution of vehicle dynamic characteristic with time. The change of the running surface of the railway wheels head has not only a great influence on the dynamic properties of the vehicle, but also a significant economical, safety and ecological impact in the process of the rail transport. One of the ways to predict these undesired situations are computer aided simulation analyzes. In this paper are presented results of wheel profile wear by Archard wear law, when the computational model of railway vehicle was driving in track by constant velocity. The vehicle was traveling along track where the rail profile was defined by standard (UIC 60 profile) with cant of 1:40, or the track profile really measured on the track, the profile S 91700_16 with the cant of 1:20. Simulations were realized by SIMPACK software.

The article shows results of studies of primary crystallization and wear resistance of Cr-Ni-Mo cast steel intended for work in corrosive and abrasive conditions. The studies of primary crystallization were conducted with use of TDA method and modified tester allowing measurement casting cooling time influence on the cooling and crystallization curves of studied alloys. After heat treatment of examined cast steel wear tests of the samples were conducted on pin-on-disc type device.

Obecnie na coraz szerszą skalę wprowadzane są paliwa ze źródeł odnawialnych. Do olejów napędowych stosowane są domieszki biokomponentów. W artykule opisano wyniki prób oceny własności smarnych wybranych kompozycji paliw. Testy przeprowadzono na aparacie czterokulowym, a podczas oceny porównano własności estrów metylowych kwasów tłuszczowych olejów roślinnych oraz ich mieszanin z olejem napędowym w różnych proporcjach.

Refined from a renewable resource biodiesel fuel are widely use for diesel engines. The standard mixture is a blend of biodiesel in diesel fuel. In the paper bench tests comparing friction and wear characteristics of the fuels for diesel engines are described. The results were obtained in laboratory tests using the four-ball wear tester.

Omówiono ideę badań tribologicznych. Scharakteryzowano możliwości badawcze stanowiska Tester T-05. Podano przykładową metrykę badań oraz zmiany masy i współczynnika tarcia dla skojarzenia TG15/PA2, dokumentując zarazem wpływ wilgotności i temperatury otoczenia.

The idea of tribological investigations is discussed in the paper. The investigating possibilities of the T-05-type tester system were characterized. The specification of investigations was cited by way of example as well as the changes of mass and friction coefficient for TG-15/PA2, mating were given. Therefore, the effect of ambient temperature and humidity is shown.
