Współczesnym odpowiednikiem Miast ogrodów wydają się być tzw. błękitno-zielone miasta. Urbaniści i planiści, starający się zrealizować tego typu ideę, podkreślają wartość dodaną łączenia wodnej i zielonej infrastruktury – korzyści środowiskowe, społeczne, kulturowe i ekonomiczne.

The article argues that including the element of water in the design of cities is in line with the fundamental assumptions of the Garden City concept and therefore that the idea of blue-green city should be seen as its (Garden City) contemporary adaptation. Discussing advantages of blue-green cities design the author focuses on the environmental and visual advantages of blue infrastructure as well as its role in improving the quality of life in urban areas.
