The paper presents a Polish selection of recipes from a German glassworks recipe book dating from the turn of the 19th century. The selection deals with the method of producing glass aventurines according to Franz Pohl's recipe. The paper includes the historic and technological commentary, and provides some textbook recipes containing two sets of raw materials necessary for the making of glass aventurines from the years 1868-1910. Other achievements of Franz Pohl (1813-1884), a technology manager at the Josephine Glassworks, were cited in Szkło i Ceramika No 4/2000, pp. 27-30.
