The Oil Industry in the Second Republic : Light and Shadow

This text is an attempt to outline the main challenges facing the Polish oil industry in the interwar period. It discusses the achievements of the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the following century. It discusses the process of reconstruction and development of the oil industry, primarily in the field of mining and processing of extracted raw material. It reveals the most important issues, related to the domestic situation, foreign markets, the economic crisis, and capital challenges. The article also signals attempts to improve and develop the oil industry, including those based on exploration of new fields and cooperation with the automotive industry.

As a manufacturing, logistics and supply chain hub within ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), Thailand holds the 12th spot in global vehicle production for an estimated 2,355 Thai and multinational automotive industry enterprises. Within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Thailand ranks number one in automotive production contributing $US11.4 billion to the Thai economy and 12 percent to Thailand’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product), with the automotive industry being Thailand’s leading export sector. However, the automotive companies envisage the difficulty of cultural diversity to manage and coordinate. Therefore, cultural values from the milieu are inducted into the workplace and have a strong impact on both individual behavior and organizational effectiveness and must be direction at all levels for cross-cultural, organizational effectiveness to be achieved. It also became evident that natural disasters are frequent and highly disruptive to the global automotive supply chain and paces must be taken to countervailing the notable and continuing loss to economic growth and organizational effectiveness to both sector units and the global industry. The implementation of strategically placed, environmentally ‘habituated’, automotive parts logistics cache might be one solution to the problem. Given the crucial importance of this sector to the economy of the region and the global supply chain, the researchers surveyed 220 managers using a 7-point Likert scale questionnaire within the multinational industrial clusters of Thailand’s ‘Detroit of Asia’ Eastern Seaboard region. Using Structural Equation Modelling to test the 11 variables on Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management and Organizational Effectiveness in a cross-cultural context, it was determined that collaboration within the supply chain and the exchange of information can reduce uncertainty, with trust being a key ingredient to a JV’s success. Communication (0.836), trust (0.834) and collaboration (0.824) were ranked as significant components of cross-cultural Supply Chain Management effectiveness. The research also confirmed that the hypothesized difficulty from cultural diversity is difficult to manage and to coordinate. Analysis also confirmed the ongoing and significant problems to the global automotive supply chain by natural disasters and the consequential economic losses.

W artykule zaprezentowano przyczyny powstawania wężykowania pojazdów przegubowych. Przedstawiono metodę eliminacji niekorzystnych wahań/oscylacji kąta skrętu przegubu poprzez zastosowanie układu sterowania przyhamowującego właściwe koła pojazdu. Sprawdzenie skuteczności działania proponowanego algorytmu przebadano dla 3 trybów napędu i 2 prędkości pojazdu. W każdym przypadku obserwowana zostało zmniejszenie się amplitudy oscylacji kąta w przegubie skrętu oraz skrócenie czasu oscylacji. Układ sterowania zostanie rozbudowany o kolejne parametry, które pozwolą osiągnąć jeszcze lepsze rezultaty, mimo tego, że te już są zadowalające.

The aim of the study was to present the system for preventing snaking behavior of articulated vehicles. Control system principle of operation is based on braking appropriate wheels to get opposite direction of 2 torques on vehicle frames witch improves directional stability of vehicle. Simulations for front, rear and all wheel drive are compared with 2 travel velocities and results showed in the table. Results shows that this system reduces up to 54% oscillation amplitude and oscillation time up to 80%, what is a promising result.

W artykule przedstawiono statystyczne dane dotyczące niesprawności podwozi średnich samochodów ratowniczo-gaśniczych użytkowanych w jednostkach ratowniczo-gaśniczych Państwowej Straży Pożarnej miasta stołecznego Warszawa. Pojazdy pożarnicze eksploatowane są w systemie pracy o specyfice akcyjnej. Ustalona jest charakterystyka ich zadania, zaś wystąpienie potrzeby ich wykonania jest zdarzeniem losowym. Podjęcie i przeprowadzenie działań ratowniczo-gaśniczych z zapewnieniem bezpieczeństwa i efektywności działania przez strażaków wymaga szybkiego dojazdu oraz odpowiedniego wyposażenia i jest podstawowym czynnikiem decydującym o praktycznej użyteczności pojazdów pożarniczych. Zdatność pojazdu jest bezpośrednio związana z jego gotowością, zdolnością do utrzymania stanu umożliwiającego wypełnienie wymaganych funkcji w danej chwili lub danym przedziale czasu w danych warunkach. Dla zapewnienia gotowości samochodu ratowniczo-gaśniczego istotne znaczenie ma rodzaj oraz liczność występowania niesprawności podwozi pojazdów pożarniczych.

In the article statistic data of chassis inefficiencies of medium pumping appliances used by fire brigades in the capital city of Warsaw has been presented. Fire appliances are operated in action system. Although characteristic of their operation is determined, the operation itself is the random event. Response and carrying out the firefighting and rescue operations while ensuring the safety and effectiveness of firefighters require a quick arrival at the scene, specialised equipment. They are the essential factors that influence practical utility of fire appliances. The appliance useability is directly related to their readiness, the ability to maintain conditions which enable an appliance to fulfil the required function at a given moment or a given period of time under given conditions. To ensure the fire and rescue appliance readiness, it is supposed, that the essential influence has the type and number of chassis inefficiencies of fire appliances.

Ogólnopolskie Seminarium Historyczny Rozwój Konstrukcji Pojazdów, jest organizowane przez Wydział Samochodów i Maszyn Roboczych Politechniki Warszawskiej. W trakcie corocznych spotkań uczestniczą w nim zarówno specjaliści jak i pasjonaci, zajmujący się historycznym i technicznym rozwojem motoryzacji, rekonstrukcją oraz konserwacją pojazdów zabytkowych. W Sympozjum uczestniczą także grupy rekonstrukcyjne wzbogacające coroczne spotkania licznymi pokazami. Organizowane wystawy i prezentacje historyczne przyciągają rzesze miłośników starych pojazdów, militariów oraz studentów. Uczestnicy cenią Sympozjum za możliwość osobistego zaznajomienia się z budową zabytkowych pojazdów, poznania dokumentacji technicznych oraz możliwością porozmawiania z konstruktorami. W ciągu sześciu edycji Sympozjum uczestnicy mogli podziwiać eksponaty unikatowe w skali krajowej jak i międzynarodowej m.in. samochód Rambler E Runabout - najstarszy zarejestrowany pojazd w Polsce. W artykule w syntetyczny sposób przedstawiono historię Sympozjum, podsumowano wygłoszone referaty oraz liczne prezentacje plakatowe oraz dokonano przeglądu eksponowanych pojazdów.

Poland-Wide Symposium Historical Overview of Automobile Design is organized by the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. Every year Symposium gathers both, experts and enthusiasts, who deal with the historical and technological development of the automotive industry, reconstruction and maintenance of classic vehicles. Also many historical reconstruction groups grace the Symposium annually. Organized exhibitions and historical presentations attract many enthusiasts of classic vehicles, military automobiles and students. Participants of the Symposium appreciate the opportunity to get familiar with the construction of automobiles, possess knowledge about technical documentation and the ability to exchange experience with experienced designers. Within six editions Symposium participants were able to enjoy exhibits that are nationally and internationally unique, including E Rambler Runabout - the oldest registered car in Poland. This paper presents a synthetic history of the Symposium, summarizes the papers delivered and numerous poster presentations and lists most of the exposed vehicles.

W referacie przedstawiono oryginalną koncepcję i możliwości określania sprawności eksploatacyjnej układów energetycznych pojazdów samochodowych, lokomotyw spalinowych i jednostek pływających czyli obiektów, które cechuje autonomiczność energetyczna. Sformułowano zasady sytuowania granicy bilansowej układów energetycznych, których zadaniem jest zasilanie odbiorników i grup odbiorników energią mechaniczną, elektryczną i cieplną. Zdefiniowana sprawność jest wyrażana jako stosunek łącznej ilości energii mechanicznej, elektrycznej i cieplnej wykorzystanej przez wszystkie odbiorniki w przeciągu 1. roku kalendarzowego do łącznej ilości energii zawartej w paliwie zużytym w tym samym czasie. Podano uwagi o problemach aplikacyjnych zdefiniowanej sprawności.

The original conception of exploitation efficiency of autonomic energy systems of automobiles, locomotives with combustion engines and ships i.e. objects that are characterized by energetic autonomy as well as possibilities of its determination are presented in the paper. The principles of setting the balance border line of energy systems which supply the receivers and groups of receivers with the mechanical, electrical and thermal energy are formulated. The exploitation efficiency is defined as the relation of total quantity of the mechanical, electrical and thermal energy utilized by all the receivers during one calendar year to the total energy contained in the fuel consumed in that time. The remarks concerning application problems of the above defined efficiency are also given.
