The Sebatik Island is one of the main cocoa-producing regions in Indonesia, but its productivity has been reported to be below the potential production volume. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the sustainability index for smallholder cocoa plantations on the Sebatik Island using the multidimensional scaling (MDS), known as the RAP-SEBATIK (rapid appraisal for cocoa on Sebatik Island) that adopts from the RAPFISH (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries). The MDS was used to evaluate the sustainability status of cocoa across six dimensions, while the leverage analysis was applied to identify the status of the most influential attributes of each dimension. The results showed that the average sustainability index value for such dimensions as ecological, economic, sociocultural, infrastructural and technological, law and institutional, as well as defence and security was 46.23, 48.58, 75.20, 40.49, 36.39, and 36.39%, respectively, based on the current conditions. According to these findings, only the sociocultural dimension was sustainable in smallholder cocoa plantations on the Sebatik Island. The main attributes that need improvement for the sake of sustainability apply to the following dimensions: ecological, economic, sociocultural, infrastructure and technology, law and institutional, as well as defence and security. Attributes that need intervention are the average age of cocoa, the community’s level of formal education, fertilisers application for cocoa, the operation of a shop for agricultural production facilities, and defence and security facilities and infrastructure.

Bikes are becoming an increasingly popular and reliable mode of transportation in developing countries because of their efficiency and ability to navigate through rough terrain and narrow roadways. Bikes are more vulnerable to road accidents and their riders’ safety is the main concern at present days. Hence, it is essential to reduce the possibility of accidents caused by bike riders. The main reason for bike accidents is bike rider behaviours in the form of traffic rules violations. The paper’s main aim is to categorize the importance of seven attributes on traffic rules violations, including bike rider behaviours, road features, ambient conditions, driving skills, type of license, bike age/tenure and riding without a safety device (helmet). Bike riders’ violations that can lead to an accident and the impact of attributes have been analyzed using the structural equation modelling (SEM) technique. To analyze these attributes, 450 bike riders have been interviewed in Bhubaneswar, India. It has been concluded that bike rider behaviours are the most significant attribute of violations. Since most bike riders are young, with low income and education, paying more attention to their training and education before issuing a driving license is necessary. In addition, those who do not use safety devices (helmets) are more susceptible to committing violations. This relates to the lack of enough control and enforcement in developing cities. Also, it shows that the current traffic fines for not using safety devices (helmets) are not enforced enough. Finally, considering this research’s outcomes can help minimize traffic rules violations among bike riders, which is a step towards safer roads.

Wearable products with high tech content for any sport activity or exercise could perform to fulfil unmet needs or goals. The research investigated consumption goals and product evaluation with the Goal-Based Model for a study of smart running shoes. Online research was carried out to obtain the attributes of smart running shoes. Face-to-face interviews with voluntary participants were performed to explore desired goals corresponding to each attribute of the product. New participants filled in a survey questionnaire in order to measure their own subjective evaluation of the product as per their own goals. All participants were staying in Nottingham, UK during the survey. Eight different consumption goals were obtained in accordance with the attributes of smart running shoes. Product evaluation was calculated using the probability and importance of goals expected from the consumption of the product.

For transport planning and policy-making, visualising the relationship among attributes; gender, education, occupation, age with travel pattern and mode choice is important. Household Interview Survey (HIS) is one of the major inputs in transport study which contains information about travel and demographic characteristics. From the analysis of 28,235 households in Dhaka city, this study represents the social demographic characteristic of Dhaka city based on the household survey. It was found that 89.79% of dwellers make double trips in a day and the trip rate per trip maker is 2.16, where 14% of total trips are generated at morning peak time between 7 to 8 am. The bus is the most preferable mode share and its contribution is about 35%. The scenario changed in a multimodal trip case and walking was the domination mode share with about 45% of total trips. Vehicle ownership had a vital rule in particular mode choice, especially in car and motorcycle household ownership case. Significant impact on travel patterns and mode choice criteria was found with gender, education, occupation, age, household income, trip purpose and time and vehicle ownership, which can help to formulate the strategic plan to solve the transport-related problem in Dhaka.

The article presents models of temporal dependences for constructing probabilistic temporal rules in the Markov Logical Networks. Such rules describe the relations between the states of a control object and taking account the possibility of integrating different approaches of management according to the paradigm of «Enterprise 2.0» knowledge sharing. The proposed models define constraints and conditions for changing the states of a control object, which allows predicting possible variants of its behavior in relation to the current state and providing decision support based on a choice of the most likely variants.

The process of firedamps´ release into worked-out areas, which often communicate with the surface after stopping the coal mining activity is very topical problem in the region of Ostrava. Firedamps contain namely dangerous methane, which is a result of the coalification process. Contemporary findings in this area show that the outflow of firedamps into the atmosphere is above all related to barometer pressure´s development. In 1995, the realization of degassing wells was initiated in region of Slezská Ostrava. Within the fremawork of monitoring, methane concentrations, gas-air mixture amount and barometer rates are measured among others. This paper gives information about mathematic data processing originated from the monitoring unit of the degassing well used for leading of firedamps from the underground, which is situated in Slezská Ostrava region.

In the social system the scope of the term authority is perceived as infinite. The paper in the semantic analysis indicates factors determining authority impact in the pervasion process in terms of features of the certain identity and their location. They include attributes and signals, credibility and obedience. Authority must respond to them, because they enable the carrier of the authority to be put above the receiver, to make influence and as an effect of that to subordinate the receiver.

Uzyskane wyniki prowadzą do wniosku, iż czas samodzielnie w małym stopniu wyjaśnia zmienność ceny transakcyjnej, stąd konieczne jest rozpatrywanie charakteru tych zmian z uwzględnieniem innych atrybutów nieruchomości.

The article presents the analysis of properties market prices in the aspect of time influence, which is showed for data base containing information about apartments, situated in Krowodrza district in Kraków, which where the subject of market transaction from September 2004 till October 2005. In research of time influence on market price of properties, are used three models: regression model, interval model and ratio form model. First part, present calculations based on all data base of 307 apartments. The results shows small part of time in individual explaining the changes of properties prices which equal 26 % in regression model and 3% in ratio form model. In interval model average variation equal 60.78 PLN/m2 with average dispersion 0.31. In connection with it, in further calculations was used one more attribute-location, all data base was divided on 5 groups based on their belonging to cadastre districts. In each of this group, was analysed time influence on market price of properties using nonlinear regression model and ratio form model. Received results shows that time has small individual part in explaining changes of the properties prices that is why the character of these changes should be analysed with other attributes of property.
