Studies on reactions of ozone with organic pollutions of the atmosphere

In this work the gas-phase reactions of ozone with aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene, m-xylene, ethylbenzene) were studied. The reactions were carried out in the flow system. Ozone was formed by the ultraviolet radiation emitted by a mercury lamp, in order to simulate the atmospheric conditions. The changes with time in the concentration of ozone, hydrocarbons and formed products were investigated. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were done by means of the gas chromatography and colorimetry. The reaction rate constants were calculated. Based on the obtained results, a reactivity of tested pollutions in contact with ozone were explained.

Referat przedstawia naturalne i antropogeniczne źródła zanieczyszczenia powietrza. Największym antropogenicznym źródłem emisji różnych substancji do atmosfery jest proces energetycznego spalania paliw kopalnych. Do analizy jakościowej przyjęto strukturę zużycia nośników energii pierwotnej w gospodarce narodowej Polski z 1998 r. i dopuszczalne stężenia substancjami zanieczyszczającymi powietrze. Ponadto w referacie podano charakterystykę mechanizmu tworzenia się i redukcji zanieczyszczeń emitowanych do atmosfery substancjami spalania paliw kopalnych.

The paper deals with natural and anthropogenic sources of air pollution. The biggest anthropogenic source of various emissions to the atmosphere is the process of fossil fuel combustion in the process of energy generation. The quantitative analysis was based on the structure of primary energy carriers consumption in Poland in 1998 and the concentration of admissible air pollutants. Moreover, there was given the mechanism of production and reduction of pollutions emitted to the atmosphere, i.e. products of fossil fuels combustion.
