A review of the main objectives of the work package No 8 "Impact of Atmospheric Effects on GPS Height Determination" of the FP5 project CERGOP-2/Environment is given along with its main parameters and mile stones. The start of the WP 8 was scheduled for the 5th month. Some problems related to GPS height determination are outlined and the up-to-date IWV related activities of the participating research teams are mentioned.
