Assessment of Stability the Chemical Composition of Slags

Metallurgical slags are an object of the increasing interest in terms of the possibility of their utilization, especially as materials used in the construction and road building industries, in the foundry industry for refining and purifying liquid alloys, the production of abrasives for surface treatment of remanufactured machine parts, as mine backfill materials. Metallurgical slags, in order to be used in foundry processes, should be characterized by the stability of the chemical composition. This paper presents the results of statistical analysis calculations, in which using a specific group f samples, knowing their chemical composition, the mean value Ā, variance Ϭ2, standard deviation Ϭ and the classical coefficient of variation V were determined. The research and its results report the amount of variation in considered components of the slags.

Jednym z podstawowych parametrów charakteryzujących paliwa węglowe w formie zawiesiny wodnej jest ich stabilność w czasie, odzwierciedlająca podatność na sedymentację. Literatura przedmiotu opisuje wiele stosowanych metod oceny tego parametru, niektóre z nich omówiono w pracy. Przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów stabilności zawiesin węglowo-wodnych trzema wybranymi metodami kwantyfikowalnymi. Uzyskane wyniki pomiarów pozwoliły na porównanie metod pod kątem jednoznaczności i przydatności uzyskiwanych za ich pomocą informacji o stabilności zawiesin węglowo-wodnych.

Susceptibility to sedimentation of hard or brown coal slurries was tested by (i) optical observation of the interface between water and sediment, (ii) measuring a speed of descent of the std. rod in the suspension or (iii) detg. the av. speed of grains of slurry. The method (ii) was the best tool for assessing the tested property, because it minimized the possibility of making errors by the operator and facilitated a comparative anal. of this type of measurement performed in various centers. The least precise course of sedimentation of both types of suspensions was detd. by the method (i).

Niniejsza praca prezentuje ocenę stabilności stężenia kwasu metakrzemowego w wodach termalnych ujmowanych otworem Bańska PGP-1 opartą na wynikach analiz uzyskanych w latach 2012–2015. Analiza statystyczna danych została wykonana w programie IBM SPSS Statistics v.23, zaś analiza trendów za pomocą programu GWSDAT (Jones, Spence 2013). Wykonana ocena wykazuje, że stężenie kwasu metakrzemowego w wodach z ujęcia Bańska PGP-1 jest stabilne.

This paper presents an analysis of the concentration stability of metasilic acid in the thermal waters exploited by the Bańska PGP-1 well, using the results of the chemical composition conducted in the years 2012–2015. The statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS v.23 and the assessment of trends was done by GWSDAT software (Jones, Spence 2013). This assessment shows that the concentration of metasilic acid in the thermal water from Bańska PGP-1 can be classified as stable.
