W artykule podjęto próbę przedstawienia perspektyw rozwoju polskiej artylerii w oparciu o koncepcję przedstawioną przez Szefa Artylerii WP, wysuniętą w maju 2007 r. Od początku lat dziewięćdziesiątych artyleria ulegała systematycznej redukcji, bez stosownej modernizacji i wdrażania nowego uzbrojenia i sprzętu. Jednakże od kilku lat podejmowane są próby poprawienia złej sytuacji artylerii poprzez wdrażanie nowego sprzętu i zmiany w jej strukturze. Nieprzewidywalny i wieloraki charakter przyszłego wykorzystania Sił Zbrojnych RP narzuca konieczność opracowania koncepcji takiej artylerii, która mogłaby być wykorzystywana zarówno w obronie kraju, jak i w operacjach bojowych i pokojowych poza jego granicami, w tym także w odległych rejonach kuli ziemskiej. W najbliższym okresie planowane jest wdrażanie 155 mm haubicy samobieżnej KRAB. W miejsce wysłuzonych artyleryjskich wyrzutni rakietowych typu BM-21 i RM-70 wprowadzone zostaną wyrzutnie typu LANGUSTA. W dalszej perspektywie możliwa jest wprowadzenie wyrzutni typu MLRS z rakietowymi pociskami taktycznymi typu ATACMS. Zmiany te pozwolą polskiej artylerii na rażenie obiektów przeciwnika głęboko w jego strefie tyłowej. Zastosowanie sprzętu najnowszej generacji oraz opracowanie nowej doktryny jego wykorzystania na polu walki pozwolą polskiej artylerii na dogonienie światowej czołówki i odgrywanie wiodącej roli we wsparciu ogniowym zarówno w działaniach narodowych jak i sojuszniczych.

During peacetime the functioning of artillery units is predominantly related to training, whose purpose is to ideally prepare the units to perform firing mission according to their combat purpose. The training process should be flexible and responsive to innovative information, methods and training means. The article is based on a scientific paper titled „The Organisation of Field Artillery Units Training” and presents its results on the determinants of training preparation and conduct. It has been grouped in three topic related areas: organizational location and equipping of artillery units in weapon systems, tactical conditions of artillery use in combat and normative training directives. The article discusses higher echelon units and artillery batteries (of various purposes and combat capabilities) - attached to battalion level and higher structures - and stresses the associated training challenges. It encourages to implement into training new approaches stemming from rich accomplishments of fire support theory. They are formed by a modified command process model, conduct of close fire support according to procedures applied in leading NATO armies, application of command relations and support relations when commanding artillery units. Special attention is dedicated to the rational approach to tactical exercises, especially exercises of fire control. In the concluding section it is determined that in order to properly prepare artillery units to conduct expected tasks, requires the supervising artillery commanders (and functional personnel) responsible of the training skilful application and linkage of tactical and operational knowledge with proper methodology. It creates premises to attaining a synergistic effect, thus enhancing effectiveness and efficiency of training.

Decreasing artillery, in connection with high requirements of fire support, causes the need to look for solutions to increase the effectiveness if this kind of- forces. One area of modification is the planning process of artillery use. The article shows results of conducted research included in a research project entitled “Planning of Using Artillery in Land Forces Operations The aim of the research was to present a systemic solution to the problem of planning of using artillery on the brigade and unit level in current conditions. The publication contains the evaluation of the currently binding planning procedures and the directions how to improve them. A particular attention was drawn to basic activity areas of artillery command bodies during the planning process, such as defining the artillery content, possibilities and combat grouping, reconnaissance planning, fire planning, planning of introduction, deployment and artillery sub-units maneuvers, combat support and logistic service support planning. It was concluded that one should withdraw from binding instructions and methods which are significantly not up to date. Numerous procedures connected with artillery use planning should be simplified and adjusted to current needs, possibilities and conditions of conducting operations. One should also aim at resigning from complex ways of artillery task accomplishing that are connected with high use of means and assets.
