Three aspects of minimal architecture seem to be the most essential for its comprehension: connection with Minimal Art, origin of Cistercian architecture and relations with "original order" of Mies van der Rohe. We have to consider as far as modern minimal architecture derives from Cubism, Bauhaus or Destijl, through the New York's avant-garde Minimal Art of the 1960s, because they are connected by many common components: sense of space, noticing of "entirety" as a category, using emptiness or structure plans.
