In 1970s the central district of Zielona Góra experienced a significant change: many streets around and in the vicinity of City Hall have been excluded from traffic and concerted into a space for pedestrians only. The decision to do that, and the way it was accomplished met with a considerable resistance among the city dwellers. Despite of that they accustomed with it very quickly, and even liked it. Currently that part of the city is under reconstruction. Perhaps it is a right time to look at this process more creatively and courageously, having both the modern technologies and designing ideas at our disposition.

Zielona Gora, as many other postindustrial cities, faces a problem of finding a new use for old warehouses and factories. One of the most remarkable example how the problem can be resolved, undoubtedly being an excellent model to be imitated, is an abandoned factory at Fabryczna St., which is being successfully converted to housing purposes - top-end designed and exclusively finished lofts.
