In modern conditions, the search forowneconomic resources appears to be urgent for small towns, and tourism is one of them.To boost tourismit is necessary for the urban environmentto beattractive, able to drawattention to itsappearanceorcontent, showing itsdistinctive andunique architecturalfeatures.Spontaneousarchitectural attractiveness may servea crucial rolewhen addressing this issue. Basic features and tendencies, inherent to the transition from a Constructivism style to Stalin Neoclassicism style (to Empire style) in architecture of Ukraine on the example of her the two capitals – Kharkiv (1919–1934) and Kyiv (since 1934) outlined in the article. It is reviewed originality and exceptional nature of evolution of architecture and spatial composition of prominent urban objects of these places in the World and Soviet architectural and artistic context of the Interwar Years. Particular attention paid to the competitive projects on development of governmental capital areas of Kharkiv and Kyiv.

In some respects, the shaping of space by an architect resembles the challenge of a theatre director who creates the stage performance. An architect, in his own creation of the architectural stage, must take account of the unforeseen events which appear in real life. The „open air" performances and various state or church ceremonies are those events when the theatrical space becomes totally combined with architecture. The ceremony organized to celebrate the nameday of King Stanislaus Augustus, which had taken place in Kamenetz Podilski in 1766, is discussed herein in its aspect of the durability of the architectural space and the limits of its existence.

Beyond the material evidence, heritage sites usually carry a deep spiritual message linking to the ancestral past. Cultural and architectural heritage sites may be discribed by material and spiritiual valued layers. Kamieniec Podolski case shaws that limits of architecture in historical towns may be reduced even to only one intangible layer.
