Artykuł jest próbą przedstawienia zasadniczych filozoficznych tez, które implicite lub explicite znajdują się u podstaw idei zrównoważonego rozwoju. Obok zasygnalizowanych założeń metafizycznych, epistemologicznych, historiozoficznych oraz antropologicznych, uwaga szczególnie została zwrócona na aksjologiczną podbudowę zrównoważonego rozwoju. W zakończeniu omawiana koncepcja została ukazana jako współczesna wersja oświeceniowej optymistycznej filozofii społecznej.

The article is an attempt to present principal philosophical theses which implicite or explicite are the basis of sustainable development idea. Among assumptions concerning metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of history and anthropology, also axiological foundation of sustainable development is highlighted. In the final part discussed idea is presented as modern version of Enlightenment's optimistic social philosophy.

Doniesienie jest próbą zwrócenia uwagi na podmiotowość człowieka, w tym przypadku w kontekście bezpieczeństwa. Temu celowi służy prezentacja koncepcji filozoficznych: teistycznej, naturalistycznej i aktywistycznej. Każda z nich inaczej opisując człowieka, wskazuje obszary ważne dla ludzkiej egzystencji, obszary, które z tego względu powinny być szczególnie chronione.

An account is an attempt to attract attention to a human being’s subjectivity, in this case in the context of safety. That is why, the author presents different philosophies: theistic, naturalistic and activistic. Each of them defines a human being in a different fashion and indicates the areas that are crucial for human existence, which is why they ought to be particularly protected.

The aim of the article is to present underestimated so far possibilities of political theories’ interpretation on the example of recognising in them influences of the state notion antropomorphisation. The essential thesis of the article claims that the just war concepts clearly reflect how much human philosophy translates into the notion of law and the idea and function of the state. It is not about finding accidental coincidences between individual ethics and law and ethos of the state but to show a deep connection between the human nature notion and the vision of the ideal state, which is the reference point for practice. Thus the way of perceiving the distance between sovereign states, the kind of international relations understood as politically correct and justified or impossible, irreconcilable with the function of the state and its organisations’ aim is a valuable source of knowledge about how the human condition is understood in the light of a particular outlook.

W artykule poruszone zostały zagadnienia z zakresu antropologii filozoficznej, dotyczące funkcjonowania człowieka w cywilizacji technicznej. Człowiek zdefiniowany został jako racjonalny podmiot działań. Zwrócono także uwagę na etyczny wymiar rozwoju naukowo-technicznego, uwzględniając w szczególności kategorię odpowiedzialności indywidualnej, instytucjonalnej w różnych aspektach ludzkiej działalności - gospodarczym, społecznym, a przede wszystkim ekologicznym. Tak rozumiana odpowiedzialność wpisuje się w koncepcję zrównoważonego rozwoju, która traktowana jest jako najważniejsza i jak na razie jedyna idea wskazująca właściwy kierunek działań ludzkich. Aby idea zrównoważonego rozwoju ugruntowała się w świadomości społecznej, potrzebne są wzmożone działania edukacyjne, co zostało podkreślone w zaprezentowanych rozważaniach.

The article is presenting issues connected with philosophical anthropology, relating to functioning of human beings in the technical civilization. Human being has been defined as a rational subject of actions. Also the ethical dimension of scientific and technological development was noticed, mostly referring to the individual responsibility category, institutional in many different aspects of human activity - agricultural, social and first of all ecological category. Responsibility, understood this way, is written into the principle of sustainable development, treated as the most important and the only one idea showing the right direction of human activities so far. There is a need for intensive educational activities, to introduce the sustainable development idea into the social awareness, and this was emphasized in the presented article.
