Long-term exploitation of sulphur deposits in the Tarnobrzeg region, along with intense groundwater drainage, caused a change in hydrodynamic and hydrogeochemical conditions. After the mining activities had been completed, the area was reclaimed, causing a return to near-natural conditions. Chemical tests of the groundwater of the Neogene aquifer in the area of Tarnobrzeg Lake were performed. The results showed that this area is prospective for the extraction of mineralized sulphide waters and their use in balneotherapy.
