Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza wielkości szkód wyrządzanych przez zwierzęta objęte ochroną gatunkową w ujęciu kwot wypłacanych odszkodowań, z jednoczesnym uwzględnieniem reżimów odpowiedzialności prawnej i finansowej za tego rodzaju szkody.

Animals’ interactions with their living environments manifesting as a spectrum of damages in agriculture, forestry, and fishery management, are a problem that has become more and more significant recently. In a case of animals being under species protection, The State Treasury is responsible for such damages, while commitments have increased during the last several years, which can be contributed to a dynamic growth of some animal’s species populations. Data on indemnities indicate that the largest compensations refer to damages made by beavers. At the same time, the responsibility – which is consistent with regulations of obligatory law – differs from responsibilities determined on a basis of general principles. Its scope is narrowed to five wild animal species and enumeratively described range of damage. It is also a form of limited responsibility, because it is not related to lost benefits, instead referring only to real damages. In addition, that form of responsibility also bears the features of objective – but not absolute – one, which is associated with some restrictions of its interception.
