The article describes the role of the Maintenance Department in an enterprise in the automotive industry. The development trends of machinery maintenance are presented. The TPM (Total Production Maintenance) system was characterized with a particular indication of the integration between maintenance and production departments. The most commonly used indicators to assess machine performance are described. Research presents the role of cooperation between production and maintenance in the achievement of high operational reliability indicators for machines. Cooperation factors that may lead to changes in the frequency of failures are described.

This article describes the way of exploiting an andon system to measure key performance indicators (KPIs) of manufacturing plant from the automotive industry. The performance measurement is conducted using four factors in two levels of performance aggregation. The first level constitutes the set of performance factors calculated for separated areas such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to measure operational effectiveness and total effective equipment performance (TEEP) for analysis of capacity utilization. In the second level some global fators are proposed such as overall plant effectiveness (OPE) and total effective plant performance (TEPP) for global investigation of plant performance. Although OEE is well-known factor indicating different types of production losses it doesn’t allow to look globally on the performance of whole production system. Therefore, a method of calculating global performance for whole plant in the form of OPE and TEPP is presented. These factors are investigated based on previous calculated OEE factors for smaller manufacturing areas. An andon system is used as information tool to monitor production losses needed to calculate mentioned KPIs factors.

Mając na uwadze wielkość dowolnego zakładu przemysłu motoryzacyjnego można dojść do wniosku, że zwykle są to zakłady średnie lub duże składające się z wielu wydzielonych obszarów technologicznych, często powiązanych siecią zależności logistycznych i materiałowych. W takim przypadku, z uwagi na ograniczony zasięg działania systemu andon (w postaci przytoczonej tablicy andon) limitujący monitoring produkcji do pojedynczego obszaru produkcyjnego, należy dążyć do integracji kilku systemów andon aby umożliwić kompleksowy monitoring produkcji związany z przepływem rodziny wyrobów. W niniejszym artykule zwięźle opisano przykład wdrożenia systemu andon dla takiego właśnie przypadku.

The article deals with the implementation of andon system for production monitoring in automotive industry. Practical example is quoted to show key aspects of implementation such system. The main possibilities of andon system as well as its basic configuration are briefly described.

The paper describes the main features of visual management systems applied to track production state inside manufacturing cells. The description is restricted to the class of the systems called electronic andon system. The way of gathering data from manufacturing cell about process performance is depicted. Integration of electronic andon with ERP systems is presented.

Ograniczono się do opisu klasy systemów kontroli wizualnej zwanej elektronicznym systemem andon. Zobrazowano sposoby gromadzenia danych w takich systemach. Przedstawiono sposoby integracji tych systemów z systemami zewnętrznymi na przykładzie komunikacji z ERP.
