Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the practical application of the SWOT-TOWS analysis when choosing a strategy for the implementation of local government roads in concrete technology. Design/methodology/approach: The research includes the identification of the characteristics of concrete pavement and the indication of the most advantageous action strategy using the SWOT analysis extended by examining additional TOWS connections. Elements of the statistical and observational methods were used, based on literature reports. Findings: The analysis showed a correlation between internal and external factors, which resulted in the selection of the most optimal solution in the examined case, which turned out to be an aggressive strategy. Research limitations/implications: The presented analysis is not comprehensive, but it is a helpful tool for strategic analysis, the results of which are important information for further research on the discussed issue. Practical implications: The presented analysis can be successfully used by investors and contractors as an auxiliary tool when choosing a road investment implementation strategy, thanks to the possibility of adjusting the criteria of weights conditioned by the location of a given project and the agreed preferences. Originality/value: Simultaneous use of the SWOT-TOWS analysis with other analytical tools will allow in practice for quick and easy decision making when choosing the most advantageous strategy for the implementation of road investments.

The main objective of the article is to conduct a strategic analysis of an arms company from the defense industry sector selected from a group of companies belonging to Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. The article attempts to verify the following research hypothesis: It should be presumed that the appropriate selection of methods of strategic analysis contributes to a more objective determination of the development potential of an entity from the arms industry. This can lead to stable company development and increase the competitiveness of arms companies. A strategic analysis of the company was conducted based on the PEST method, Porter's five forces method, strategic balance and SWOT/TOWS analysis. A synthesis of the findings of the research methods used was made.

Rynek apteczny jest elementem systemu gospodarczego kraju w znacznym stopniu podlegającym kontroli organów państwowych. Regulacje odnoszą się głównie do lokalizacji, cen, odpłatności za leki, liczby aptek posiadanych przez jednego przedsiębiorcę, a także działań promocyjnych. Pomimo wielu ograniczeń przedstawiana branża jest w sytuacji stabilnego wzrostu. Artykuł prezentuje charakterystykę rynku po wprowadzeniu nowelizacji ustawy Prawo farmaceutyczne, uwzględniając aktualne trendy, zagrożenia i możliwości rozwoju.

A method of analyzing strengths, weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats was used to assess the tested market after the amendment of the new Pharmaceutical Law. Despite the limitations related to the ban on running pharmacies by people without a pharmacy education, the tested market was in a stable growth phase.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy potencjału przedsięwzięcia za pomocą wybranej metody strategicznej oceny – analiza SWOT/TOWS. Pierwsza część zawiera charakterystykę metody i opis badanego sektora, jakim jest rynek farmaceutyczny. Druga część artykułu poświęcona jest analizie apteki funkcjonującej na rynku farmaceutycznym. Analiza dotyczy określenia pozycji wybranego przedsięwzięcia na rynku oraz atrakcyjności danego sektora.

The article presents the results of the potential analysis of the enterprise using the chosen strategic assessment method - SWOT/TOWS analysis. The first part contains the characteristics of the method and a description of the sector being examined, which is the pharmaceutical market. The second part of the article is devoted to the analysis of a pharmacy operating on the pharmaceutical market. The analysis concerns determining the position of the selected undertaking on the market and the attractiveness of a given sector.

The aim of this paper is to carry out a SWOT-TOWS analysis for a service enterprises - the chosen cinema. The SWOT analysis may be useful planning tool of process improvement based on PDCA cycle that is an interative, four- stage approach for continually improving. The article contains precise diagnosis of internal and external environment of the chosen service enterprise and the choice of the most matching strategy that could maximize strength, reduce weaknesses, take advantages of opportunities or minimize threats.

Efektem rozwoju świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa jest wzrost zainteresowania wykorzystaniem niekonwencjonalnych źródeł energii. Szczególna uwaga poświęcana jest jednak energii odnawialnej, podczas gdy znaczenie energii odpadowej jest marginalizowane, co powoduje, że znaczna jej część jest bezproduktywnie odprowadzana do otoczenia. Obecny rozwój techniki pozwala wprawdzie na odzyskiwanie tej formy energii, jednakże brak szerokiej wiedzy na temat racjonalności zastosowania systemów odzysku ciepła odpadowego, szczególnie na etapie indywidualnej konsumpcji energii, wyraźnie ogranicza możliwość ich implementacji. Jednym z nośników energii odpadowej, który może pełnić rolę alternatywnego źródła energii do podgrzewania wody w budynkach mieszkalnych i usługowych, są ścieki szare. Zawarte w nich ciepło może zostać przekazane do dopływającej wody wodociągowej za pomocą wymienników ciepła o specjalnej konstrukcji. Dostępność stosownych rozwiązań na polskim rynku jest jednak ograniczona, co powoduje potrzebę propagowania takiej formy zrównoważonego gospodarowania energią wśród mieszkańców w celu zwiększenia popytu na te urządzenia. Celem artykułu jest zdefiniowanie oraz przeanalizowanie mocnych i słabych stron systemów odzysku ciepła ze ścieków szarych odprowadzanych z prysznica, jak również potencjalnych szans i zagrożeń wynikających z ich stosowania. Jako narzędzie wykorzystano analizę SWOT, która umożliwia precyzyjne uporządkowanie informacji oraz pozwala przedstawić cechy badanego przedsięwzięcia w klarowny dla odbiorcy sposób. Aplikacja otrzymanych wyników badań w proces edukacji prośrodowiskowej przyczyni się do wzrostu stopnia akceptacji dla takich rozwiązań, a w rezultacie także do zwiększenia liczby systemów odzysku ciepła stosowanych przez mieszkańców.

The development of environmental awareness leads to an increased interest in using unconventional energy sources. Special attention is, however, devoted to renewable energy, while the importance of waste energy is marginalized. Consequently, a substantial part of this energy is lost to the environment. Although the current development of technology allows recovery of waste heat, the possibility of the application of heat recovery systems is clearly limited due to the lack of extensive knowledge of such systems. Sources of waste heat include, among others, warm drain water discharged from the shower. The thermal energy contained in the drain water can be transferred to the incoming cold tap water by using special heat exchangers. The availability of Drain Water Heat Recovery (DWHR) units in Poland is, however, limited. Therefore, in order to increase the demand for DWHR systems, it is important to promote such a way of saving energy. The paper defines and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of DWHR systems, as well as the potential opportunities and threats arising from their use in residential buildings. For this purpose, SWOT analysis has been used, which allows organizing information and presenting it in a clear and logical way. Application of the research results in areas connected with education will contribute to the increase of acceptance of such systems. In result, the number of operating DWHR systems will also increase.

Porty morskie stanowią istotne ogniwa w lądowo – morskich łańcuchach dostaw zarówno w aspekcie gospodarczym, jak i militarnym. Pełnią role miasto i regionotwórcze oraz ze względu na posiadaną infrastrukturę stanowią uzupełnienie i wsparcie dla wojskowego systemu logistycznego sił morskich. Dlatego też istotnym elementem jest zdefiniowanie ich strategii rozwoju i funkcjonowania zarówno w wymiarze zarządzania jak i obronności. Opracowanie prezentuje zastosowanie analizy SWOT/TOWS w celu określenia pożądanych strategii normatywnych rozwoju dla badanego obiektu, tj. Zespołu Portów Morskich Szczecin - Świnoujście w wyżej wymienionych obszarach.

The article raises an important issue which is the status of sea ports in the land and maritime chains of supply considered within the commercial and military aspects. That is why the key element is to identify the development strategy of the sea port under consideration from the management and defense perspectives. The analysis SWOT/TOWS has been implemented to resolve the problem. As the result of the analysis, the required normative strategies have been established to manage and develop the sea port under research.

W artykule przedstawiony został zaproponowany algorytm oceny możliwości rewitalizacji zwałowiska górniczego, przy jednej z kopalń Kompani Węglowej SA. Uwzględniony został status prawny, położenie oraz zaproponowane zostały potencjalne scenariusze, z których wybrano jeden (najlepszy) ze względu na przyjęte kryteria. Wybrany scenariusz został poddany dalszej ocenie za pomocą takich analiz jak: SWOT/TOWS, FMEA i QFD. Analizy zostały przeprowadzone w celu uzyskania bardziej efektywnych i miarodajnych wyników aspektów społecznych i ekonomicznych.

The article presented the proposed algorithm evaluate the possibility of revitalization of mining overburden dumps, on one of the mines and Coal Company SA. Included was a legal status, location and have been proposed as potential scenarios with which you have selected one (the best) due to the adopted criteria. The selected scenario has been subjected to further evaluation by using such analyses as: SWOT/TWOS, FMEA and QFD. The analysis has been carried out in order to obtain more effective and reliable results of social and economic aspects.
