This paper presents the results of hypoeutectic 226 grade alloy as well as prepared on its basis Al-Si alloy containing Cr, V and Mo. The additives tested were added as AlCr15, AlV10 and AlMo8 master alloys. Alloys tested were poured into DTA sampler as well as using pressure die casting. An amount of Cr, V and Mo additives in alloy poured into DTA sampler comprised within the range approximately 0.05-0.35%. Alloys to pressure die casting contained 0.05-0.20% Cr, V and Mo. The crystallization process was examined using the derivative thermal analysis (DTA). The microstructure of castings made in the DTA sampler as well as castings made with use of pressure die casting were examined. The basic mechanical properties of castings made using pressure die casting were defined too. It has been shown in the DTA curves of Al-Si alloy containing approximately 0.30 and 0.35% Cr, Mo, and V there is an additional thermal effect probably caused by a peritectic crystallization of intermetallic phases containing the aforementioned additives. These phases have a morphology similar to the walled and a relatively large size. The analogous phases also occur in pressure die casting alloys containing 0.10% or more additions of Cr, V and Mo. The appearance of these phases in pressure die casting Al-Si alloys coincides with a decrease in the value of the tensile strength Rm and the elongation A. It has been shown die castings made of Al-Si alloys containing the aforementioned additives have a higher Rm and A than 226 alloy.

Available technical literature includes a number of reports on harmful effects connected with elevated content of iron in aluminium-silicon alloys but in case of pressure castings, alloys containing up to 2% Fe can be used. This follows from lesser susceptibility of such alloys to sticking to surfaces of metal moulds. One effect of iron presence in aluminium-silicon alloys is precipitation of iron-rich intermetallic phases. In the study reported in this paper it has been found that in a multicomponent aluminium-silicon alloy, the indentation hardness (HIT) and the elastic indentation modulus (EIT) of intermetallic phases occurring in the form of polyhedrons and/or their conglomerates, rich in aluminium, iron, silicon, manganese, and chromium, containing also copper, nickel, and vanadium, are higher than those measured for silicon crystals. This feature can be used to intentional modelling microstructure of mechanical parts which are expected to show high resistance to abrasive wear.

This work present results modification AlSi7%Mg alloy with modifier contained Na and B. It modifier was has taken down was with components: NaNO3, Na2B4O7 and Mg. The process of metal treatment in casting moulds (Inmold method). The influence of modifier in reference to pulp of worked alloy on Brinell hardness and abrasive wear was introduced in graphic mould. The analysis modification process of hypo eutectic alloy AlSi7%Mg with compound modifier showed the modifying influence on studied proprieties.

Content available remote Tensile strength of the Al-9%Si alloy modified with Na, F and Cl compounds

The modification of the Al-9%Si alloy with the use of a complex modifier containing Na, F and Cl was investigated in the study. The modifier was composed of NaCl, Na3AlF6 and NaF compounds. The modifier and the liquid Al-Si alloy were kept in the crucible for 15 minutes. The modifier's effect relative to the weight of the processed alloy on its tensile strength was presented in graphic form. The results of the study indicate that the complex modifier altered the investigated properties of the eutectic Al-9%Si alloy.

An experimental set-up elaborated for measurement of solidification surface profile of metal stream flowing in a mould channel has been described. The mentioned solidification surface profile is measured on solidified shells obtained by using of so-called remove remainder test. As measurement result one obtains a line showing shells thickness distribution along their length. For shells thickness measurements a laser optical displacement sensor has been used. Using of the laser sensor allows also to observe the solidification profile line in micro- scale. Exemplary measurement results have been presented for Al-Si binary alloys.

Content available remote Modification of AlSi12CuNiMg alloy with a homogenous modifier

Results of studies on the modification of AlSi12CuNiMg (AK12) alloy with a homogenous modifier obtained by fast cooling of AK12 alloy at three different rates (V1=100oC/s, V2=200oC/s and V3=300oC/s) are presented in the paper. The effects of cooling rate and w/w concentration of the modifier in the melt on tensile strength, percentage elongation, hardness and abrasive wear are illustrated graphically.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań nad modyfikacją stopu AK12 modyfikatorem homogenicznym, wytworzonym przez szybkie studzenie stopu AK12 z prędkością V1=100oC/s, V2=200oC/s i V3=300oC/s. Przedstawiono w formie graficznej wpływ prędkości studzenia i zawartości modyfikatora w odniesieniu do masy obrabianego stopu na wytrzymałość na rozciąganie, wydłużenie procentowe, twardość oraz zużycie ścierne.

W pracy zastosowano metodę określania prawdopodobieństwa przetrwania elementów konstrukcyjnych na przykładzie wyników badań wytrzymałości na rozciąganie i zginanie, z nadeutektycznego siluminu układu AlSi17Cu4Mg. Analizę statystyczną przeprowadzono pod kątem wyznaczania modułu Weibulla, stanowiącego miarę eksploatacyjnej niezawodności materiałowej.

In this work method of defining of probability of survival of constructional elements was applied on example of results investigations of endurance onto bending, executed from hypereutectic of arrangement Al-Si-Mg alloy. Statistical analysis doing of Weibull's module was moved at an angle. Module Weibull's, it is coefficient of reliability of casting elements materials. Investigations in fold state of tensions casting alloy was surrendered - hypereutectic AlSi17Cu4Mg alloy design onto elements of crowds and heads of combustions' engines.

Oceniono wpływ modyfikatorów: strontowego i tytano-boru na kinetykę krzepnięcia technicznego stopu AlSi6Cu4. Przedstawiono wyniki symulacji składu fazowego stopu dla warunków krystalizacji z całkowitym, konwekcyjnym mieszaniem kąpieli. W części eksperymentalnej przeprowadzono analizę krzywych krzepnięcia wyznaczonych metoda ATD dla stopu niemodyfikowanego, modyfikowanego zaprawą AlSr10 (0,3%) oraz jednocześnie zaprawami AlSr10 (0,3%) i AlTi5B1 (0,1-1%), a następnie oceniono zmiany w strukturze tych stopów na podstawie badań metalograficznych.

The influence of strontium and titanium-boron inoculants on the solidification kinetics of AlSi6Cu4 alloy has been estimated. The results of simulation of the phase composition of alloy solidifying under the conditions of full convection mixing of the melt have been presented. The experimental part includes analysis of the solidification curves obtained by the ATD method for the non-modified alloy, the allay modified with AlSr10 (0.3%) master alloy, and with both AlSr10 (0.3%) and AlTi5B1 (0.1-1%) master alloys. Then structural changes in these alloys have been estimated on the basis of metallographic examination.

W pracy opisano wpływ czynników struktury krystalicznej na właściwości plastyczne odlewów ze stopu Al-Si. Przeprowadzono statystyczną analizę istotności wpływu parametrów struktury na wydłużenie, granicę plastyczności i wytrzymałość na rozciąganie odlewów z podeutektycznych stopów Al-Si o wysokiej i niskiej plastyczności. Stwierdzono, że występują różnice w liczbie i kolejności siły wpływu istotnych parametrów struktury na badane właściwości mechaniczne, które zależą od składu stopu i zbioru warunków krzepnięcia odlewów.

The paper describes the effect of crystalline structure on plastic properties of the casts made of sub-eutectic Al-Si alloys. Statistical analysis of significance of structural parameters has been performed with regard to elongation, yield point, and tensile strength of the casts made of sub-eutectic Al-Si alloys of high and low plasticity. It was ascertained that according to the alloy composition and solidification conditions the number of the parameters affecting the course of the casting process and their importance are different.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu składu chemicznego na temperaturę krystalizacji krzemu nadeutektycznego oraz temperaturę krystalizacji w zakresie eutektycznym. Metodą termicznej analizy różniczkowej stwierdzono krystalizację czterech eutektyk, które są wynikiem działanie określonych dodatków stopowych. Wykorzystując aparat statystyki i regresji wielokrotnej opisano istotność i kierunek wpływu dodatków stopowych na krystalizację siluminu nadeutektycznego.

The results of the influence chemical composition on the temperature crystallisation and temperature range crystallisation from eutectic of the hypereutectic silumin are presented in this paper. Investigation results doing derivative thermal analysis by registering solidification ATD curves. It was found that specified addition alloys creating of four low-melting eutectic crystallisation. Therefore a general regression and polynomial correlation analyser was applied. The influence of modification by phosphorus and by above mentioned alloy additions on the analysed, dependent variables was shown using, principal calculations of descriptive statistic.
