The benefits of applying automatic air flow control system with oxygen sensor in a 20 kW heating boiler with a retort furnace supplied periodically with wood pellets were examined. Boiler combustion chamber was not lined with ceramic blanket and therefore the fuel supply cycle duration (operation and stand-by) was set by the producer to just 20 seconds. Variation in time of carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen oxides and oxygen concentrations in the flue gas, as well as correlations between: pollutant concentrations and temperature in the combustion chamber or oxygen concentration, temperature in the combustion chamber and oxygen concentration, nitric oxide and carbon monoxide concentrations were compared for different scenarios: with automatic air flow control and with constant air flow. It was concluded that applying automatic air flow control system with oxygen sensor did not significantly reduce carbon monoxide concentration (only by 10-15%). Most probably it is because the stand-by in fuel feeding is too short for the air supply fan to react. In order to reduce carbon monoxide concentration, instead of applying automatic air flow control it is preferable to obtain higher heat outputs (above 60% of its maximum value) and use higher capacity water heat storages.

In this paper application of innovative multi-DBD plasma actuator for flow separation control is presented. The influence of the airflow generated by this actuator on the flow around NACA 0012 and NACA 0015 airfoil models was investigated. The results obtained from 2D PIV measurements showed that the multi-DBD actuator with floating interelectrode can be attractive for leading and trailing edge separation control.

W niniejszej pracy zaprezentowano innowacyjny aktuator plazmowy z elektrodą o potencjale pływającym. Aktuator ten zastosowano do aktywnej kontroli przepływu wokół elementów aerodynamicznych. Rezultaty badań wskazują, że badany aktuator umożliwia kontrolę oderwania warstwy przyściennej wokół modeli skrzydła NACA 0012 i NACA 0015.

In this paper the use of a floating inter-electrode in a multi-DBD (dielectric barrier discharge) plasma actuator is described. The multi-DBD plasma actuators with floating inter-electrodes were investigated to get a longer DBD on a dielectric surface and to maximise generated net airflow. Our actuator was used to control the boundary layer flow separation around NACA0012 airfoil model. The results of our investigations suggests that multi-DBD actuators with floating inter-electrodes can be attractive for aerodynamic purposes.

In this article there are presented tests results of the process of heat exchange between a flat plate placed vertically behind a stream element being a mono-stable jet nozzle with two states of the air outflow. Depending on the state of the air outflow, the air stream flows round a part of the wall in a different direction. In this work there are presented results of measurements recorded for selected parameters of the air outflow.
