Wooded-lake area is a relatively challenging for troops, since its distinctive character causes the necessity to employ specific tactics. A number of obstacles on a given ground and low road density contribute to limited operational mobility and the necessity of fighting in opposite and often remote directions while equally employing helicopters to a large extent. Therefore, both planning and establishment of military activities on wooded-lakes areas create a favorable opportunity to employ unconventional tactics, develop the initiative, and stimulate various activities.The data included in the study presented hereby was verified in the course of the military rehearsals held at the National Defense University in years past, the scenarios of which were located in the Masurian Lake District. Not only did the above-mentioned fact enable the exploration of the crucial aspects affecting the operations of helicopter-borne combat assaults and air assault task forces in the circumstances, but it also helped to identify the challenges faced by such elements of combat formations carrying out both offensive and defensive activities on wooded-lake terrain. In the author’s point of view, the conclusions drawn may be as well employed in the processes of planning and fighting in more convenient area’s conditions.

A significant increase of the importance of fighting in specific battlefield environments brought out the necessity to adapt the concept of fighting in air – land dimension to these conditions. Their specific character and resulting difficulties have often required working out entirely new developments ensuring high effectiveness of these actions. Novodays at constantly increasing battlefield dynamism that shows mainly in widely applied manoeuvre in all possible dimensions, the air – land operations play a vital role. In difficult terrain conditions, white conducting operations in many, often isolated directions, in fast changing situations, only strictly co-ordinated land and air operations allow to achieve measurable results ensuring rapid use of favourable conditions and to develop and gain success.

Among numerous issues relating to combat, the problems of the troops’ mobility ani speed of combat actions have always been essential elements conditioning achieving vie tory. The article contains a kind of handbook treating about the basis of Air Force logistics theory. It is aimed at approaching the reader and enabling explicit understanding of terms, definitions, rules, principles and processes relating to Air Force logistics and also it is to prove that logistics is a study and, more than others, an interdisciplinary one. The article also presents conditions to be fulfilled so that logistics activity was effective as a process occurring in a system.

The first part of the article presents operational requirements of combat helicopters regiments and conclusions resulted from them for logistics support organisers. Basing on the evaluation of general Armed Forces logistic system provisions, there has been evaluated its usability for the logistic support needs. Furthermore, there have been presented the tasks and proposals of combat helicopter regiments organisational structure as a set of factors conditioning final logistic bodies structure for this kind of air forces and also a concept to use combat helicopters regiments basing on combat tasks principles. Taking into consideration specific character of performed tasks, organisational structure of the combat helicopter regiment and principles of combat actions, conclusions have been drawn for the organisers of combat helicopters regiments logistic support. Differences between logistics support of combat helicopters regiments and other kinds of air forces have been shown. Conducted in this way analysis allowed to draw conclusions concerning the necessity or redundancy of combat helicopters regiments own limited logistics subunits.

The article is a voice in a few-year lasting discussion concerning the ways of logistics support of combat actions for air mobile units. It. present a number of subjective and objective conditionis determining the logistic support process of this type units. Suggestions to improve logistics support for air mobile forces have been presented and a diagnosis of the state of these improvements has been carried out.
