Wymagania rynku, konsumentów i rywalizacja pomiędzy konkurentami sprawiają, iż konieczny staje się nowy model zarządzania przedsiębiorstwami. Organizacje próbują przekształcić się w przedsiębiorstwo jutra. Jest to możliwe poprzez wprowadzanie zmian zarówno organizacyjnych, jak i logistycznych.

Organisational and logistic changes constitute a basis for virtual organisations. But let us start from the beginning. The aim of actions related to implementation of changes is the improvement of competitiveness and effectiveness of organisation. It is also the reduction of costs. Expenditures related to stock, staff, administration and time are reduced. What is more, the organisation is purified of redundant elements. These are organisational units and elimination of the overinvestment phenomenon. Changes are also aimed at development and growth of organisation by means of spotting and using market opportunities. Depending on the degree of changes and their nature (more or less radical and innovative), various results may be obtained. Thus new trends in changes management appear. Only yesterday change was perceived as risk. At the moment change is regarded as an opportunity. Only yesterday a good idea for company operation could only be given by a specialist. Today's practice proves that a good idea may come from various sources. Eventually, the change itself is subject to changes. "Few organisations may perceive change as an example of disruption of otherwise peaceful world (...) Too many things are changing too fast for the managers of any organisation to afford to be calm." [Robbins, 1998] The changes are becoming increasingly dynamic. Nevertheless, they assure the improvement of the competitiveness of companies. Creating an agile, network or virtual organisation is regarded as a solution looking to the future. It results from the radicalism and innovative nature of the proposed solutions. Creating modern, thinking ahead and self-regulating organisations is a result of organisational changes. Often these are very radical solutions, based on modern technologies. High flexibility and adaptability of organisation gained from such changes allows for responding to market opportunities. Surely, the method of operation of such types of organisation and the setbacks of solutions should be analysed. One should bear in mind that agility, network or virtual character of an organisation does not solve typical organisational and logistic problems.
