Jeśli przyjąć, że dobrze zaplanowanemu remontowi towarzyszy profesjonalna diagnostyka zorientowana na ocenę stanu technicznego i prognozę trwałości remontowanego urządzenia, to firma diagnostyczna i firma remontowa powinny być traktowane przez użytkownika jako najbardziej kompetentni i użyteczni partnerzy w następującym po remoncie okresie, aż do kolejnego remontu kapitalnego. To najbezpieczniejsze i najtańsze dla użytkownika podejście, niestety do tej pory stosowane niekonsekwentnie, na niewielką skalę i niesformalizowane.

Cutting down outlays earmarked for the maintenance of the condition of power equipment by limiting the scope of overhauls and, in particular, by extending the service life of long operated equipment must not be chosen as a long term solution regardless of intuition and/or experience. The problem could be solved by a specific combined approach by the User, Repairer Company and Diagnostic Company consisting in that the overhaul is treated as a source of extensive knowledge on the technical condition of power equipment and the analysis of post repair operating condition increases the information on the current condition of the turbine. The analysis of the operating conditions should include not only some selected turbine operation data, but also its operating disturbances, and the results of routine and intermediate maintenance activities. Such an approach creates good conditions for both the optimization of the appointed time and scope of routine and intermediate repairs as well as the preparation of the next overhaul following the conditional overhaul strategy.
