Monument Protection (Ochrona Zabytków) is a course now available at the Institute of History of Architecture and Conservation of Monuments at the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology, following the reform of the curriculum linked to the introduction of the two-degree system of studies. The aim of the course is the preparation of the future graduates of the 1st degree studies to taking adequate design solutions (complying with contemporary conservation theories) in respect of revalorisation and conversion of historic structures. Students learn how to treat a historic structure individually, and adapt it to contemporary needs during the design process, while being acquainted with the philosophy of preservation of monuments. Innovative teaching at the Faculty of Architecture, based on in-depth studies and analyses of contemporary doctrines of conservation and architectural tendencies, has already gained the name of the 'Cracovian school of conservation of monuments' in the academic circles.

Ochrona Zabytków to przedmiot uruchomiony w Instytucie Historii Architektury i Konserwacji Zabytków na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej po przeprowadzeniu reformy programowej związanej z dwustopniowym systemem nauczania. Celem tego przedmiotu jest przygotowanie przyszłych absolwentów pierwszego stopnia studiów do podejmowania decyzji projektowych w zakresie rewaloryzacji i adaptacji obiektów historycznych, zgodnych ze współczesnymi teoriami konserwatorskimi. Poznając filozofię zachowania zabytku, studenci uczą się indywidualnego traktowania obiektu historycznego i w procesie projektowym adaptują go do współczesnych potrzeb. Nowatorskie nauczanie oparte na głębokich studiach i analizach współczesnych doktryn konserwatorskich i nurtów architektonicznych, prowadzone na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej, zyskało już w kręgach akademickich miano "krakowskiej szkoły konserwacji zabytków".

Tematyka artykułu dotyczy procesu kształcenia studentów kierunku geodezja i kartografia w aspekcie przygotowania absolwentów do pracy w jednostkach wykonawstwa geodezyjnego, jak również w urzędach obsługujących organy administracji publicznej. Rozważania dotyczyły zagadnień dydaktyki na Wydziale Geodezji Górniczej i Inżynierii Środowiska AGH w Krakowie. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy skonfrontowana została jakość kształcenia studentów z oczekiwaniami pracodawców.

The topic of this article is the process of teaching Geodesy and Cartography students at the Faculty of Mining Geodesy and Environmental Engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow regarding the preparation of graduates to work at geodetic service companies and in geodetic dministration offices. According to the Act, Law on Higher Education dated 27.07.2005, the system of education at AGH was changed in academic year 2007/2008 from uniform masters studies into three-tier studies - undergraduate studies leading to the degree of inżynier (engineer) and masters studies supplemented with doctoral studies. The article discusses curricula of both teaching systems as well as specializations that tudents can choose in 7th-10 th semesters of their studies. The specializations include: Engineering and ndustrial Geodesy (EIG), Real Estate Management and Cadastre (REMC), Geoinformation, Photogrammetry and Teledetection (GPT), Mining and Geology (MG) and Geomatics. The work includes an analysis of the curriculum at the undergraduate level before the choice of speialization in the aspect of a graduate's professional preparation to work at geodetic service companiesnd geodetic administration. The analysis of the curriculum at the masters level has been conducted for two specializations, namely EIG and Real Estate Valuation and Cadastre (REMC). The first of these two specializations prepares students to work in geodetic service companies, the other one - in geodetic administration uthorities. The analysis provided a basis for determining qualifications of a graduate in geodesy and cartography. The qualifications were confronted with the recommendation of the General Council for Higher Education and with expectations from employers who employ graduates in geodesy and cartography.
