This paper reviews a new technique which can be suitable for the evaluation of the corrosion rate of steel in concrete structures. The new method adapts the idea of the Wenner four point probe with two copper/copper sulphate half-cells in the center. These two types connected with each other can give us a new rapid technique for the evaluation of the reinforcement corrosion rate. This project was conducted over a period of 5 months in collaboration with The Construction and Infrastructure Research Group from The University of Liverpool. It has been observed that the novel DC Wenner method can be used to determine the probable location and rate of corrosion of the reinforcing steel in concrete structures, without the need for a direct electrical connection to the steel. However, this method requires further development.
