Office spaces design tendencies after the covid-19 pandemic in comparison with well Building Standard evaluation

The COV ID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitisation processes, improvedremote communication systems and revolutionised office work systems. It ishighly probable that all of these changes will convert office areas and officemanagement in the near future. Remote work has brought employers attentionto their employees’ health and wellbeing, as they have been proven to be themain driving force in their companies. Additionally, there is a growing interestin certifying buildings according to the principles of the WELL Building Standard,a system that focuses on evaluating those design and organisational aspectsthat have a direct impact on the wellbeing of building users. This publicationis intended as a review, and the aim of this article is to analyse if following WELLcertification rules can help to design a modern office that suits a post-pandemic society.

Polityka europejska w zakresie działań zmierzających do poprawy efektywności energetycznej bardzo mocno skupia się na sektorze budownictwa, odpowiadającego za około 40% całkowitego zużycia energii. Zrównoważone, energooszczędne budownictwo to w najbliższych latach wymóg i konieczność. Małopolskie Centrum Budownictwa Energooszczędnego Politechniki Krakowskiej we współpracy z Małopolskim Laboratorium Budownictwa Energooszczędnego wprowadzają certyfikat, który potwierdzi wymagane parametry budynku energooszczędnego oraz jego wpływ na zdrowie użytkowników. Dokument jest pierwszym opracowanym w Polsce certyfikatem budynków energooszczędnych, spełniającym założenia budynków o niemal zerowym zapotrzebowaniu na energię, których wdrożenie nakładają na Polskę dyrektywy Unii Europejskiej.

European policy on energy efficiency measures focuses very strongly on the building sector, which accounts for around 40% of total energy consumption. Sustainable, energy-efficient construction is a requirement and necessity in the coming years. Malopolska Centre for Energy-Efficient Building of Cracow University of Technology in cooperation with Malopolska Laboratory of Energy-Efficient Building introduce a certificate which will confirm required parameters of energy-efficient building and its influence on users’ health. The document is the first certificate of energy efficient buildings developed in Poland, meeting the assumptions of buildings with nearly zero energy demand, whose implementation is imposed on Poland by the European Union directives.

Głównym tematem artykułu jest zjawisko udomawiania przestrzeni biurowej, a mianowicie nowej tendencji projektowej polegającej na wprowadzaniu do współczesnych biur form charakterystycznych dla wnętrz mieszkalnych. Na potrzeby publikacji, pod kątem wykorzystywanych układów funkcjonalnych i ich modyfikacji, oraz zastosowanych elementów i materiałów wykończeniowych zostaną przeanalizowane wybrane wnętrza biurowe w ośrodkach polskich, oraz w krajach Europy Zachodniej, powstałe w ostatnich latach.

The main topic of the following article is a process of making office spaces look more like home interiors by introducing furniture, decorative elements and finishing material traditionally used in housing. For this article use there are several examples of polish and western European office building analysed, that have been ejected in few las years. There are functional schemes with all the modifications taken into consideration, as well as elements and materials used to arrange interior spaces.
