The paper gives some recommendations to the design process targeted onto a new, innovative technical product. Changes in fields of applied design methods, organization structures in the R&D departments have been discussed as well as market analysis aspects concerning technical product innovation. The responsible R&D division, in close collaboration with commercial departments and company management has to monitor relevant innovative trends and anticipate future market requirements. It has to be a “bottom up” process, where efficient communication and understanding within the company staff would shape its innovative profile.
