W dzisiejszych czasach coraz większego znaczenia nabiera kształcenie na odległość realizowane z użyciem nowoczesnych technik internetowych. Rodzi się potrzeba opracowania platform umożliwiających prowadzenie eksperymentów bez fizycznej obecności w laboratorium, przez Internet. Możliwość prowadzenia eksperymentu w ramach tzw. wirtualnego laboratorium (symulacja lub zdalny dostęp do laboratorium) powinna zapewniać studentowi zrozumienie istoty badanych zjawisk, zapoznanie się ze stosowanymi rozwiązaniami układowymi i technikami pomiarowymi. Wskazane byłoby również pozostawienie studentowi pewnej swobody w doborze elementów i konfiguracji układu pomiarowego. Przedmiotem referatu jest opis elementów funkcjonalnych wirtualnego laboratorium.

Rapid changes in technology have led to the recent development of internet-based virtual laboratories. From the viewpoint of an academic teacher specialized in the area of instrumentation and measurement (I&M) these influences alter both measurement techniques and didactic process. Distance learning based on the Internet technology is becoming more and more popular. In this context remote virtual laboratories are very useful tools. Students can access virtual instruments via a computer network and carry out real experiments directly by using a standard Web browser. It is important that students can understand the essence of events that take place in a measurement object, and familiarize with measurement systems and techniques. This should be done without limiting the number of accessible instruments of a given measurement unit. In this paper, we would like to presented a functionality and potential of a virtual laboratory platform in the area of didactics in metrology education.
