Within the framework of an experimental programme an operator’s seat for earthmoving machinery was investigated. A linear magnetorheological damper (MRD) was employed instead of a standard hydraulic damper (HYD), provided by the manufacturer. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the vibration and shock isolation performance of the seat in which the MRD was employed as a passive or semi-active device.
