This research involves diagnosis of attitudes towards religious institutions and a value system. Subjects taking part in the research were Polish (325) and Russian (319) students. Differences in acceptance of attitudes, which depend on a value system, were expected to appear. The theoretical background was based on M. Rokeach's concepts and The Value Survey of this author was used. A special tool was constructed in order to measure attitudes. Collected data shows that students of both nationalities differently evaluate the role of religious institutions in social life. Attitudes were connected with a specific pattern of value system which indicates differences in individualism - collectivism dimension.
