Przedstawiono wyniki badań nad zastosowaniem pomiarów fotogrametrycznych, wykonywanych za pomocą stacji cyfrowej VSD, do inwentaryzacji drzewostanów. Badania prowadzono na 220 kołowych powierzchniach próbnych w drzewostanach Uroczyska Głuchów Leśnego Zakładu Doświadczalnego w Rogowie. Stwierdzono dużą przydatność stacji VSD do pomiaru cech taksacyjnych drzewostanów.

Research results concerning application of the photogrammetric survey, realized by means of the digital station (VSD), for forest inventory was presented. The research work included 220 circular research areas in forest stands of the Głuchów forest district. The high level of usefulness of the VSD station for the survey of stands characteristics was ascertained.

During the last four years, a close cooperation between the Department of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Informatics o f AGH and the School o f Arabic Studies of he Spanish Council for Scientific Research, CSIC, has been carried out for the diffusion of hotogrammetrie systems in the field of recording monuments and other cultural properties. SD of AGH has proved to be a suitable instrument, easy to be implemented and learned without any strong knowledge on photogrammetry. and so, easy to be used by architects and archaeologist by themselves. In the framew'ork o f this collaboration, the VSD software has been improved for its use in the field o f terrestrial applications, and has been fully translated to Spanish. More than 20 licenses are actually working in Spain, most in Universities used for educational purposes, and some others in archaeological research projects. Some have been also bought for commercial use by small companies working in the field o f cultural heritage. Some implementations have also been made to offer a simple and cheep photogrammetrie system combining simple stereoscopes, digital cameras and portable computers. Up to seven digital cameras have been calibrated for this purpose till now. Images from calibrated digital cameras have proved better results than scanned images. A portable and easy-to-use system based in the VSD is actually offered for professionals working in the field o f conservation.
